Being asked to “just compere” something is far from a “just.”
Producing a script and then delivering it yourself is a time consuming ask when vying for time with other writing projects.
But Saddleworth Musical Society have worked so hard to sell out their concert for three nights (no mean feat) and it’s great to see it well received and all of the hard work by them paying off.
Well done guys.

🎶 Another big thank you to Saddleworth Male Voice Choir for choosing to support Oldham Foodbank this year.

Join us for their Concert of Remembrance on Saturday 7th November at 7.30pm at Uppermill Civic Hall, featuring special guests Dobcross Youth Band.

It will be a wonderful evening of music, and we'll be there collecting donations in support of local people facing hardship across Oldham.

💚 We hope to see some of our supporters there. The choir's support over the coming year will make a real difference to our community.

“When a young child goes missing on an isolated rural moor, the eyes of the world quickly focus on it.
During the day, it is idyllic and by night, unforgiving; in so many ways.
On the edge of it, a small isolated café and an elderly owner who now, for one night, has company. The company of a young police officer with nothing to do but sit and wait and talk.
What do two strangers talk about when the pleasantries run dry?
Perhaps, they speak of themselves. Perhaps, things they have never revealed to anyone else.
Trapped by the weather, the officer soon discovers that the café owner is not just a purveyor of teas and light snacks. She also has memories. Memories, it would appear, which come at a price. Some of which have never been paid.
But then again, maybe a memory shared can be a memory silenced. And a debt forgotten.”

The opening night at Millgate Arts Centre of my new play was made extra special with having the presence of The High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, Mark Llewellin DL, accompanied by the past Vice Lord Lieutenant Sharman Birtles MBE DL.
Very busy people who achieve so much by shining a light on the valuable work being undertaken by groups in the community. Glad I could tempt them to a photo on the set!
