A wonderful visit to St Peter's Church Hartshorne to catch up with the project team and see how their The National Lottery Heritage Fund church restoration project is progressing.

Stonework repairs are well underway, community engagement is exceeding expectations and the churchyard is a wildlife haven.

Like so many projects more urgent repairs have emerged. But this team isn't daunted. Their commitment to their church and the local community is joyous to witness as the project evaluator.

An evening of belly laughs with the fabulous insightful observations of Mrs Smith.

Great to see Droitwich Spa High School theatre packed and being used as a venue for the The Rik Mayall Comedy Festival. Well done to the staff and students for providing the refreshments.

Kicking off a new month thinking about who I work with.

The best time to get in touch is when you are planning, you don't need to wait until you have all the funding to start a conversation.

Great to see Worcestershire's heritage being shared

Today is , which marks the escape of Charles II from England in 1651. Following the Royalist defeat at Battle of Worcester, he was forced to flee and had many adventures on the journey, most famously hiding up an oak tree in Boscobel Wood, before setting sail for France.

Check out our page exploring some glorious churches along his escape route: https://www.nationalchurchestrust.org/explore/story/oak-apple-day

And if that whets your appetite, take a look at our Worcestershire page to see more churches in the area: https://www.nationalchurchestrust.org/explore/central-england/worcestershire

How did they not realise this beauty was literally under their feet?

Recently revealed in the Lady Chapel at the church in Worcestershire, they believe it is an extremely rare Cosmatesque Pavement floor. The only other one they know of is in Abbey. If anyone can help them learn more about the floor they would love to hear from you.

In the meantime you can read more about it over on their website:

The floor is currently being restored thanks to the support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Droitwich Preservation Trust
