Keep up the great work folks!

An article taken from last week’s edition of the Down Recorder, reporting on the positive impacts of the 4 Artisan markets delivered within Newry, Mourne and Down District Council

Great to see they remain popular with residents!!

Our committee have now completed our flyer drop to all our residents, a copy is attached for information.

We have a few great community events planned this summer & everyone is invited 😊😎.. to come along & enjoy the craic…

Our first event is Friday week (27th May), a bingo/quiz event in Denvirs Hotel, at which we hope to raise a few pounds to help cover the costs for our upcoming community events..

Please contact this page for further information on the KRA committee & if you would like to assist in anyway 👏😊😎🎵🎶

Last week we had the pleasure of presenting the prizes to our local schools who took part in the St Patrick’s Day parade ☘️

Our winner chosen by Cathy Mason was St Bridget’s Primary School with The Children of Lir 🤩

Pictured along side our schools are local business who donated towards our prizes, artists who created the floats, local councillors and members of the Downpatrick Town Committee

A massive thank you to all who donated, created and took part in our St Patrick’s Day Parade, the countdown is on for next year, we have lots of ideas and cannot wait to see them in action for St Patricks Day 2023 🤗

Amazing 👏

⏰ MYTH-BUSTING TIME! ⏰

❌ Myth: You have to walk, jog, or run at least once before you volunteer at parkrun

💯 Fact: No experience is needed to volunteer, there are loads of roles available, and it doesn't matter if you've never walked, jogged, or ran.

Great work being carried out by our friends in Killyleagh.

Killyleagh in Bloom. Many of the traders and residents in the town have agreed to adorn their buildings with hanging baskets and window boxes from late Spring into Summer. KCA is working on wildflower patches, planters and funding for raised beds. Now…WE NEED YOU!! Will you do a hanging basket, window box or planter outside your house or business for everyone to enjoy? Even if you only have a small space it will all help. Little Gem on High Street can supply planted summer baskets and window boxes, or you could do your own. Order now for May or aim for next month to have yours planted up. Come on Killyleagh, let’s get our bloom on!! #killyleaghinbloom #civicpride #killyleagh

Happy Parkrun Eve!!!

We are looking forward to seeing you all at Dunleath Park Playing fields tomorrow morning at 9.30am for our 3rd Parkrun especially those of you that have been to both the previous 2 (keep up the streak).

The forecast looks great for running/walking again.

Don’t forget if you are taking part with a dog you should keep them on a short lead and not a waist harness as these aren’t allowed at any Parkruns.

We have free tea/coffee and biscuits at the finish area while stocks last. We have an honesty box there for any donations towards the refreshment kitty.

To get your name up in lights on our list of results you should register at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/ to get a barcode. And don’t forget to bring it with you. It will also help us process the results easier afterwards

Reduce and reuse. Make savings and improve profits. This scheme looks really interesting. Read the Armagh Planetarium case study to see the massive improvement they made. They partnered with Social Enterprises who reused materials & equipment resulting in cost savings of £15,035 and CO2 reduction of 47 tonnes. Local Chef, Paul Cunningham of Mourne Larder transformed his passion for foraging and sourcing the best of local #Mourne produce into an innovative dining experience with the help of our Goforit NI Programme. Paul approached the Joan O'Hara at Down Business Centre about the Goforit NI programme a year and a half ago and said the support provided was amazing and gave him the confidence to know that he was on the right track. “The best thing they did for me was put together the business plan. I had tried to do it myself and thought I knew where to start, but I didn’t! They helped me to get funding as well and gave me a lot of good advice,” he says.
