Revisiting this painting which I wasn’t too happy about initially. This was a second attempt of a beautiful scene and favourite beauty spot Brancaster.Staithe in Norfolk. There were parts of the first painting I really liked and parts of this one I liked too. If I could marry them both together it would be perfect 😆 Anyway, after a few little tweaks I am quite happy with the overall result. Still trying to master tricky lobster pots, boats and salt marsh 😃🎨 Would love any thoughts 🎨

🎨Had the greatest pleasure of delivering this commission - original painting plus two fully framed and signed prints of these beautiful ladies! Just love the sophisticated 50’s/60’s era dress style (as shown in reference photo) with co-ordinating handbags, shoes and hats 😍 I have added very subtle silver iridescence highlights to all 3 paintings on button, broach, bangle (lady on left) and to Eugenie on right, her handbag and neck collar. 🎨🎨

A bit of an experiment ….. this pen work sketch was from last year’s visit - decided to add a touch of watercolour. It’s proved a useful exercise ….. sitting outside the same scene I’m trying to navigate sky from land and sea from marsh 😆 Such useful reference for defining sea from land and seeing what works and doesn’t regarding marsh depth and definition. It’s weird and gratifying how when adding colour the scene comes to life.

🌞😎 Having fun plein air sketching 🎨at a favourite beauty spot at Burnham Overy Staithe. Even after taking a reference photo, a big problem was the fast incoming tide and the boats kept moving and changing angles. The bonus being seagulls landing very close in front of my view cheekily posing for me - so they got added in too 😆 Still find salt marsh land tricky and boats too but feel there is an improvement when comparing last years sketching here 😃🎨🎨

Just finished this painting which began life .mitch watercolour workshop. The large A2 paper is a little intimidating at first but also very freeing and I so love putting a big brush to paper encouraging me to work loose. Feel this owl is rather ethereal, like my peacock painting (also derived from Ian’s workshop). /prints available
