Catch us at festivals, pubs & village greens — keeping tradition alive with a smile. Chip Off The Old is a vibrant and friendly ladies' Morris dancing side with mixed gender musicians based in Derby, proudly upholding the tradition since 1977. Our team performs traditional Cotswold Morris dances, showcasing lively routines with sticks and hankies from the villages of Adderbury, Brackley, Ducklington, Fieldtown, Lichfield, and Ilmington. Throughout the year, we bring the joy of Morris dancing to a variety of events, including pub nights, festivals, well dressings, village celebrations, school performances, and days of dance alongside other Morris teams. Each performance is accompanied by our talented live band, playing uplifting tunes on traditional folk music instruments. If you've ever been curious about Morris dancing or are looking for a new hobby, come along and give it a try – we'd love to have you on board as a dancer or musician!
