A very special little milestone for our beautiful River today 🥹🐴❤️

After six weeks of careful in-hand work, strengthening her legs and tendons and beginning to rebuild her muscle and topline, today was River’s first time back under saddle. We’re taking everything slowly and steadily, getting her ready for when Bambi is a little more independent and River can start getting out and about again. 🥰

And just a little note on her bit, as we know it sometimes gets noticed 👀 — River is in a straight rubber-bar Pelham with no curb chain. It may look like a strong bit, but it’s one we’ve used successfully for many years when starting horses, with the vast majority finding the simple, stable mouthpiece very comfortable. Any bit can be severe in the wrong hands — it’s how it’s used that matters. ❤️🐴

So proud of this beautiful girl — she took everything in her stride. 💕

🐴💕 WE’RE HEADING TO THE GREAT FARM GET TOGETHER THIS SATURDAY! 💕🐴

Come along and see us at Upper Kingston Farm, Ringwood for a lovely family day out! There’ll be live music, a dog show and plenty of family fun — and of course, we’ll be there with the ponies offering pony rides from 11am–2pm! 🦄🐴✨

⚠️ Please note: the event runs from 11am–4pm, but Princess the Unicorn & Friends will be offering rides from 11am until 2pm only, as we’re then heading off to another event.

So if you’re hoping for a pony ride, make sure you come and find us before 2pm! 🥰🐴

🐴🛍️ ONE FOR OUR HORSEY FAMILIES! 🛍️🐴

We thought we’d share this as the Horse Car Boot Sale is coming up again! 💕

These can be such a brilliant place for young equestrians, particularly when they’re just starting out and beginning to build up their very own little riding kit. 🐎✨

As every parent knows, children grow at a ridiculous rate! 😂 So it can be a great opportunity to find riding clothes, boots and all sorts of lovely horsey bits and pieces without spending a fortune while they’re still growing.

You may even find a riding hat — just make sure you check that it’s suitable, undamaged, meets the required current safety standard and fits correctly before using it for riding.

There’s something really special about children gradually collecting their own riding things too — their first pair of boots, their favourite riding top and all those little bits they treasure as their love of horses grows. 🥰🐴

So we thought we’d share it for any of our families who fancy a little horsey bargain hunting! 🛍️🐎💖

🦄🐴 ANOTHER FULLY BOOKED WEEKEND! 🐴🦄

We’re heading into another very busy weekend here at Princess the Unicorn & Friends! 🩷

While our fantastic ❤️ Lily ❤️ and Jay are keeping the riding lessons going back at the yard, I’ll be out and about with the horses — at an event in Southampton on Saturday and then out doing parties on Sunday! 🥳🦄

And that’s something we’re really proud of — it can all happen at the same time! 🐴✨ Lessons carrying on at the riding school while Princess & Friends are out making appearances at parties, events and special occasions.

🐴🌿 Breakfast time with the herd 🌿🐴

One of our favourite parts of the morning — everyone out in the field, enjoying their breakfast together nice and peacefully. 🥰

With 11 very different horses and ponies, it’s always lovely to see them settled, happy and content as a herd. No unicorn sparkles, riding lessons or parties just yet… just full bellies, fresh air and a very peaceful start to the day. 🩷🐴

☀️🦄 And just like that… summer is over! 🦄☀️

What an absolutely amazing summer we’ve had at Princess the Unicorn & Friends. 🩷 From riding lessons and woodland adventures to Pony Academy, unicorn magic, carriage driving, events and plenty of laughs along the way — we’ve made SO many lovely memories.

A huge thank you to every child, parent and family who spent part of their summer with us and supported our little riding school. It genuinely means the world. 🐴💕

Now it’s back to school for the children… although thankfully not for the ponies 😂📚🐴

Here’s to all the adventures still to come. 🦄✨

🐴 A little reminder about lesson payments & no-shows 🐴

Unfortunately, today we had FOUR people not turn up for their booked riding lessons.

At £35 per lesson, that means £140 of lost income in one day — but there’s a much bigger picture behind that figure.

£140 is around what it costs us to feed our horses their hay for an entire week. 🌾🐴

Our horses still need feeding, caring for, trimming/shoeing, insuring and looking after whether somebody turns up for their lesson or not. They are at the heart of everything we do, and the income from your lessons goes directly towards keeping them happy, healthy and cared for. 🩷

There is also another side to a no-show: we have limited lesson availability. When somebody books a space and doesn’t attend, that slot has been held specifically for them and somebody else who wanted a lesson has missed the opportunity to book it.

I do have a policy that lessons are paid for at the point of booking, but because I know and trust many of our customers, I’ve sometimes allowed payment on the day.

Unfortunately, after losing four lesson spaces today, I simply can’t afford to let that policy slip anymore.

So please don’t be offended when, from now on, we ask for full payment at the time of booking to secure your lesson. This will apply to everyone and isn’t personal. 🩷

Of course, I completely understand that genuine emergencies happen and sometimes life throws things at us that we can’t control. This isn’t aimed at anybody who has had to cancel for a genuine reason and contacted us — it’s about protecting a small business from empty spaces and no-shows.

Every lesson you book with us helps us continue doing what we love and, most importantly, helps us provide the very best care for Princess and all her friends. 🦄🐴💕

Thank you so much to all of our wonderful customers who continually support us, turn up for their lessons and respect our booking policy. We really do appreciate you.
