Susan Handy Dance

We teach the the Cecchetti Method, a method of training developed by Enrico Cecchetti in the late 19th Century. Tap is a popular choice with all age groups.

Established since 1974 the Susan Handy School of Dancing provides classes in Ballet, Modern Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre and Music and Movement; classes are held in Eton, Eton Wick, Windsor, Old Windsor, Datchet, Ickenham and Woking. BALLET - The disciplinary training of Classical Ballet will provide an improved posture and a control of mind and body beneficial to health, physique and artistic appre

ciation. With regular classes a child will develop their natural co-ordination of movement and musicality and will gain confidence in his own abilities which will be beneficial in everyday life. More details about Cecchetti are available to see in the Download section. MUSIC & MOVEMENT CLASSES - Music & Movement Ballet starts for children aged 2½ to approximately 4 years old. This is a magical lesson including mime, the use of the imagination and the very basic beginning of the ballet technique. MODERN DANCE - Modern dance covers various styles of movements; Lyrical, Blues, Jazz and Funky Isolations. All work is technically based and therefore it is recommended to study Ballet to take Grade 2 Modern and above. Modern develops strength, flexibility and artistry and there is a strong focus on fun through carefully constructed exercises and movements. TAP - Apart from being an essential skill for the professional dancer, tap dance is one of the most enjoyable and rhythmic forms of recreational dance. Tap is a great choice for promoting co-ordination, a sense of rhythm, and for strengthening and loosening foot, ankle and leg muscles. Younger students enjoy being able to dance and make noise at the same time. More advanced students find great satisfaction in achieving and performing technically complex steps and rhythms. Adult Tap - Whether you are a beginner or have tapped before, Adult Tap classes are great for keeping fit and having fun. Tap improves co-ordination, fitness and motor skills. MUSICAL THEATRE - An exciting new addition to the school, one hour classes teaching singing as well as dancing.

Susan Handy Dance is proud to be supporting Children’s Hospice Service with their Easter Big Knit event 🐣✨

From Monday 9th February to Saturday 11th February, all students are invited to take part by wearing their own clothes to all classes in exchange for a donation of a Cream Egg of your choice 🍫

All donations will go directly to Alexander Devine’s Big Knit, helping to support the incredible work they do for children and families within our community.

Cecchetti Ballet Associates Choreographic Competition ✨

A wonderful event for our dancers to participate and showcase their choreography.

We had an unforgettable performance dancing to Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty suite with .philharmonic orchestra on Saturday. It was an incredible opportunity for our students to dance with live music. The venue and music were breathtaking, and our dancers certainly brought the energy.

What made the event even more special, we had alumni .gazet come back to perform with us as the lilac fairy. Thank you for her fabulous choreography. Iris now trains with sander and is doing a spectacular job.

Well done to everyone involved! We are beyond proud of you!

✨ Christmas Fun – This Saturday! ✨

We are very excited that Elf Fizzy Whiz will be visiting us this Saturday from 11:15–11:55am to spread festive fun and Christmas magic!

This will run during the Primary Ballet class, however children are welcome to stay for Ballet afterwards from 11:55–12:35pm if they wish. This is completely optional.

This is an invitation to all our Students who wish to attend - not just Saturday students.

We cannot wait for a magical morning!

Saturday 13th our senior performing team are performing Sleeping Beauty with a live orchestra at Eton College School Hall.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year 🎅🏼🎄

What a fabulous Christmas week 🎄our performance troops lit up the town with their Christmas magic and spirit. It is truly an honour to continue these fabulous traditions within our school. ✨

Eton & Windsor light switch on complete. A fabulous fundraiser performance for too which was so special and magical ✨
