We have some sad news to share.

Green Shoes Arts will be closing by the end of this year. As a small charity, we rely on funding to make our work possible. Despite every effort, the funding we needed hasn’t come through, and we are unable to continue.

This news doesn’t take away from all that we’ve achieved together. Over the years, we’ve seen creativity change lives — through friendships made, confidence built, and stories shared. The impact of this work will continue to ripple through our community long after our doors close.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Marketing based student or recent graduate to support our Artistic Director with an ambitious new Marketing Strategy, which is being produced with the support of consultancy and our board of trustees.

This is a great opportunity to join a charity looking to adapt to the challenges of the sector in 2025. You will be guided by our Artistic Director, but given autonomy to make decisions that will directly impact strategy. This is a great chance to put your theory into practice and earn whilst you do so!

Valence House Museum and Green Shoes Arts are running a series of photography and drama workshops for young people, drawing inspiration from ‘Beyond the Easel: Rediscovering Dagenham’s Forgotten Artist’, an exhibition of the work of artist Henry Gillard Glindoni.

We’re looking for young people who would like to work with an artist facilitator every week until November to create an artistic response to the exhibition. The final outcomes will be displayed at the Museum. You can take part in Drama, Photography, or both!

This is a great chance to build your CV through work experience at Valence House Museum. You could secure an entry point into employment in the arts, gallery, and museum sectors; and gain skills in gallery invigilation, creating and delivering presentations, generating content for an internationally renowned museum, and customer service.

“Beyond the Easel” will be hosted at Valence House's Temporary Exhibition Gallery from 6th July to 30th November, 2024.

Glindoni was an artist who deserves greater recognition for his artistic talent which he nurtured whilst working as a scene painter in theatres and sketching the actors in his youth. He is best known for his figurative historical works, many with domestic Regency settings evoking the world of Jane Austen and Bridgerton. This exhibition will bring Glindoni and his work back into the spotlight in his home borough of Dagenham.

It's time to relax with

Derek is a qualified Meditation Teacher and an experienced dance, stretch and mobility facilitator. Using Yoga and Pilates to increase wellbeing and boost physical confidence. 

Derek is committed to helping others to realise who they truly are, teaching people how to develop the tools that are needed to deal with life’s ever present challenges.

We will be covering 5 steps in our session:

1 - Warming up

2- Gentle Stretching 

3 - A Simple Yoga and Pilates flow

4 - A Breathwork exercise

5 - Guided meditation (to finish)

Our first Creative Wellbeing Day is next Monday and we can't wait!

SINGING TOGETHER WORKSHOP FOR ADULTS
29.07.2024 - 12:30pm

"Singing together is good for our health and happiness.

We will begin with some aromatherapy - an oil blend or spray - to help us breathe deeper, tune in to where we’re at physically with some simple stretches, and then move into some vocal warm ups and learning an easy song together with simple harmonies. 

This session will aim to create a space which is open, fun and non-judgemental. I know that singing can be quite a vulnerable thing, so if you are interested but have some doubts, I invite you to come along to try it out and see how it feels!"
