Good Morning and greetings from the Costa Del Riddlesdown where the sun has stopped shining so we can all save on factor number whatever.
Now here's a thing. The weather seems to be random in its operation of late. We had the summer, the bit between Easter and Whitsun, and now April showers seem to have decamped into June. Which, I suppose, is a good thing as the last thing we want is flames in the countryside, or so I'm told.
I feel sorry for those of you who splashed out on a ragtop sports car. Essential equipment should include a sou'wester. There's nothing so nice as a girl in an open top sports car hair blowing in the wind as you hurtle along. But when you stop her hairstyle has become a behive and wasps and all sorts of other bugs that are sifted out of the air that blows through her curly locks.
I speak from experience you see.
Now down to the business of the day.
Tonight at Croydon Folk Club we have The Browns, or, to be precise, The Norfolk Browns. This is to differentiate between them and an American band who hog the interweb.
The Browns are an acoustic duo from Norfolk, celebrated for their beautiful voices, exquisite vocal harmonies, and emotionally resonant songwriting. With a natural gift for storytelling through music, their original songs are expressive, poignant, and often deeply moving, capturing the hearts of audiences wherever they perform.
Renowned for their captivating live performances, The Browns create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, drawing listeners in with their charm, sincerity, and beautiful songs. They are known for their on-stage rapport and easy connection with audiences.
The duo have released two critically acclaimed albums: Still the Same and The Linden Tree. Both albums launched at sell-out events and have been widely praised for their lyrical depth, emotional honesty, and stunning vocal interplay. Songs from both records have been played on radio stations across Europe, helping to bring their music to an ever-growing audience. As Fatea Magazine wrote, “Their strength is excellent vocal harmonies, with very clear lyrics, on tunes that are presented to make the most of their wonderful voices.”
Having become familiar faces on the UK folk scene, The Browns have performed at folk clubs and festivals across the country. Their music, while rooted in folk traditions, carries a distinct and personal voice—both timeless and fresh.
Whether in an intimate club or on a festival stage, The Browns bring their unique sound and heartfelt songs to life with passion and grace. They cherish the opportunity to travel, share their music, and connect with people through the universal language of music and song.
They do have connections with the Croydon area, so it's a kind of homecoming for them.

We've contacted the London Mayor and he has arranged for a break in the weather at club time so drop everything and get along to your local live venue for all things musical.
See you later 8pm as usual. Bar from 7pm come and be congenial and more to the point live!
Best regards
Brian Jenny and all the Croydon Team
