MHA The Wilderness

MHA The Wilderness An award winning, historic garden at MHA Hall Grange care home in Croydon, London.

We finally have our Polytunnel! A big thank you to our donors, who helped make this happen, our wonderful volunteers for prepping the site and for their amazing job of supplying and installing it. A special thank you to John and Dillon for their hard work, expertise and resilience through some pretty awful weather conditions to get the job done. Now we just need to fill it with plants!

Our Shirley poppies are just about to pop (despite the recent weather conditions!)

Come along this Sunday and see them in the garden, as well as enjoy tea and cake and peruse our plant stall. You can also sneak a peek at our newly installed polytunnel.

Rev. William Wilks, the creator of The Wilderness bred what we know as The Shirley poppy, having found a flower with unusual white bandings in a local meadow. This has become an emblem locally in Shirley and Croydon.

A few snaps from our Rhododendron Open Day on 17th May. We had almost 150 visitors and raised much needed funds. A big thank you goes to our lovely ever committed volunteers for cake baking, preparing the garden, plant donations and supporting the event, and our wonderful visitors for making the day such a success.
