Mimi is ME, ME, ME, but... WE, WE, WE love her anyway.

Mimi the museum manager adds a special ummph to The Museum Of Me elevating the stars and indeed attendees perspectives and opinions by... giving them time.

Your last chance to meet her in person is tomorrow at 4pm-5pm for Ian English's celebration.

After that we bubble wrap her up, pop her in the freezer and keep her on chill until we serve up on a plate over 20 new Museum Stars in Lincoln through March.

🎙️ Big news from Extraordinary Us - we welcome Amerah Saleh!

We’re thrilled to announce Amerah Saleh as the new Storyteller joining our Creative Director Paul O'Donnell on The Museum Of Me in Solihull. Amerah is a powerhouse spoken-word artist, poet, theatre-maker and facilitator - born and raised in Birmingham, with Muslim Yemeni roots that shape her fearless explorations of identity, belonging and community.

Her award-winning work celebrates everyday people, amplifies under-heard voices, and invites honest reflection on who we are - exactly the spirit that underpins Museum of Me. 🌍💛

👉 Stay tuned for stories, performances and intimate portraits of Solihull residents and members of the New Communities who have called Solihull home. Stories created with courage, compassion and creative flair.

Extraordinary Us is on the lookout for a sharp, strategic and wildly creative General Manager to help push our young organisation into its next era.

We’re a people-powered CIC that finds the extra in ordinary — producing bold, heartfelt projects like The Museum of Me, Autumn Is Q***r, Speak Up: Our Patch, and The Weight of War. Now we need someone who can help sustain our current momentum and build the long-term structures that will help us grow.

A GORGEOUS example of Extraordinary Us in motion. 💫🌈

This year, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán 🇭🇺 tried to ban Pride celebrations — banning attendance, banning initiation, banning joy ❌🏳️‍🌈.

Last year, around 30,000 marched.
This year? Over 200,000 showed up. 💥

AMIR ASHOUR – Iraq’s Trailblazing LGBTQ+ Advocate ⚖️✊

In a country where fighting for q***r rights is profoundly dangerous, Amir Ashour rose up. A Baghdad-born activist, Amir founded IraQ***r in 2015, the first national LGBTQ+ organisation in Iraq, to fill a silent void  .

Driven underground before fleeing persecution, Amir continued his work in exile. He published vital guides about law, health, and security - available in Arabic, Kurdish, and English - directly supporting LGBTQ+ communities back home .

Despite being arrested twice for his human rights work, he never stopped. He took his cause to the United Nations and earned international recognition: being honoured as an MTV EMA “Generation Change” awardee in 2021 and winning the Gay Times International Community Trailblazer award in 2022 .

Amir’s journey - forced into exile, then returning stronger than ever - is proof that visibility can be radical, and activism can cross borders 📢❤️.

📣 “Being Iraq’s only gay activist,” he shows resilience isn’t just surviving - it’s rebuilding the world from scratch and daring to imagine a better one 🌈✨.

MISS MAJOR GRIFFIN-GRACY – The Legacy Protector 👑✊🏾

Miss Major didn’t just survive: she organised 📣, mentored 🤝, and transformed 🔥.

A Black trans elder 🏳️‍⚧️✊🏾 and Stonewall veteran 🧱, Miss Major spent decades advocating for trans women of color 🖤 - especially those impacted by the prison-industrial complex 🚔🔗.

She ran shelters 🏠, led protests 📢, and created family where there was none ❤️🏳️‍⚧️.

👑 She’s not a leader because she asked to be - she is because she refused not to be. 🌟
