🦉 Friday 13th + Saturday 14th November. Dates for the diary…

Join us at the studio for our first ever studio print sale where we will be selling an array of our original prints and textiles, many of which at a discounted studio-sale price.

There will be two studio sale events across the weekend with free refreshments -

Friday 13th 10-5pm - Studio sale starts and lasts all day

Friday 13th 6-8:30pm - Drinks and nibbles

Saturday 14th 9:30-12noon - Cakes and Tea

This is a great opportunity to take a look at Jack and Emily’s archive of prints not usually on display in the shop and to buy the last editions of beautiful artworks we no longer print runs of. We will also be selling artist proofs and seconds (prints with minor imperfections) at discounted prices.

We’ve just added our new series of cards to our online shop 🌾

Each of these card designs started off as an original collagraph print by Jack Fawdry Tatham . The originals are large editions on paper printed using the printing press at Market Place Print Studio and have since been reprinted in Penrith to produce these cards.

Printed on medium weight paper. Each card is approx A5 and comes with a white envelope from sustainable sources & carbon captured as part of the Woodland Trust Capture Scheme.

The cards are the biggest size possible to send with a standard stamp in the post.

Many of the large scale original prints of these designs are available to buy in the studio too.

Block Printing Autumn Taster - Weds 14th 6-8:30pm - All Levels - £38

We have a couple spots left on the above workshop. We will be using pre-carved block printing blocks to experiment with pattern making and repetition, taking inspiration from traditional block printing methods.

You will also have a go carving a very simple block from a template we will provide. You will learn about ink consistency for printing onto paper or fabric and how to stamp an effective print.

All our other Autumn Tasters 2026 are sold out but we have started adding 2027 dates to our website so do take a look 🌾

Last week we had our last open art circle before having an autumn and winter break. The circle has been running for a year. You may not have heard of this offering but that’s because we had the same group pretty much for that whole time which was a real privilege 🌞

During our last circle we had our usual grounding meditation and then a catch up, talking about what we’ve been creating (if anything) and sharing any challenges or doubts. Then we moved onto our activity where we dipped cotton circles into a pot of brewing onions to dye them bright yellow.

These yellow circles symbolised our creative fire smouldering through the darker months. The vibrant colour from dead and brittle onion skins to remind us that from “nothing” a spark can still emerge.

We then carved little blocks with a symbol that meant something to us and imprinted it on to our circle.

We had a wonderfully busy day yesterday at our block print drop in for Taste Cumbria. We are running the workshop again today and our shop is open as usual 🍁

Drop in is first come first serve
£12.50 per tea towel or tote
£10 per person for groups of two or more
8yrs +

FYI lots of the market is closing earlier than scheduled due to high winds (around 1pm) so get down early to take it all in!

🌽Drop-in Taste Cumbria workshops coming up ~ 8yrs plus ~ £12.50 per tote bag or tea towel 🥔

Saturday 26th ~ Sunday 27th 10-4pm

We will be running our popular drop-in block printing workshops during the Taste Cumbria weekend. This year we will have tote bags and tea towels available to block print by hand using our array of hand carved blocks!

These drop-in workshops are usually very popular and are first come first served.

No need to book, drop in only and pay on the door. See you there!

These photos show the development of our new block from drawing to carving to printing. Swipe to the end to see the tiny doodle that became this print. This design will be featured in my next release of naturally dyed and block printed cushions.

A cyanotype and collagraph patchwork by Ann Lingard who recently booked the studio for a day of open access to print the border of this piece.

For the border, Ann inked up various seaweeds from the Solway and printed them onto cotton using our printing press here at the studio. The middle images of patchwork were created using the process of cyanotype. Read more about the process and subject matter in Ann’s blogpost which I’ll share in our stories.
