A Little Social Media Confession

I love to share my photos when I get the chance,
A little glimpse of life, a moment, a glance.
I love seeing your comments, your kindness and cheer,
And I’m grateful for every lovely word that appears.

But sometimes the messages begin to pile high,
And I look at them all with a little sigh.
Not because I don’t care, or I’m being aloof,
Sometimes life just gets busy — that’s simply the truth.

I may read your kind words and smile at the screen,
Then weeks can go by before I’m next seen!
It isn’t that I’m slack, or that I don’t want to reply,
It’s just that, sometimes, it all feels a little too high.

There are so many wonderful people to keep in touch,
And honestly, I appreciate every one so much.
But keeping up with everyone can sometimes feel tough,
Especially when life itself is already enough.

So please know, if my answer is sometimes delayed,
Your kindness was noticed, appreciated and stayed.
I’m truly so grateful for the warmth that you bring,
For every kind message, each lovely little thing.

I’ll pop in when I can, when the moment feels right,
And share a few photos that bring me delight.
So if I’m quiet for a while, please don’t take it to heart —
I’m just taking things slowly, one day at a start.

Bubbles

Within a fragile, weightless sphere,
A whispered world appears so clear.
No brush could paint, no hand could hold,
Its fleeting fire of liquid gold.

A ribbon blushes into blue,
Then emerald wakes from morning dew.
Soft violets kiss a scarlet flame,
Yet none remain the very same.

Each colour bleeds with gentle grace,
No hurried line, no fixed embrace.
They melt like dreams at break of day,
As one becomes the next away.

A tiny universe takes flight,
Spun from water, air and light.
It shimmers with a silent song,
As if the stars had drifted wrong.

I watch, afraid to breathe too deep,
Lest all its wonder fall asleep.
For magic lives where moments hide,
Not in the things we keep with pride.

The rainbow bows, begins to sigh,
Its colours soften, wave goodbye.
The crimson slips through sapphire’s glow,
Where golden rivers gently flow.

Then, one by one, they disappear,
Leaving only crystal clear.
A bubble’s heart, so bright before,
Becomes the air—and nothing more.

Yet though it fades beyond my sight,
It leaves a trace of pure delight.
For some sweet wonders aren’t designed
To linger long or stay confined.

Visitors in This Space

We prune the trees and mow the ground,
We tame the wildness all around.
We pull the weeds and plant with care,
As though control is waiting there.

We shape the earth, we choose the view,
We tell the flowers what to do.
Yet underneath it all, perhaps,
We’re only fooling ourselves with maps.

For nature grows beyond our plans,
Through cracks in walls and grains of sand.
It bends, it breaks, then starts anew,
And quietly reminds us of this too:

That life was never ours to tame,
Nor nature ours to make behave.
Perhaps our need to control it all
Is simply fear of our own fall.

For underneath the need to steer,
There lies a truth we seldom hear:
We cannot hold the world in place —
We’re simply visitors in this space.

Where My Love Will Find You

My darling girl, if one day
My hands can’t hold you near,
Remember love is not confined
By distance, time or fear.

For every hug and whispered word,
Each kiss upon your head,
Becomes a little light of love
That never truly fled.

And if you miss me, close your eyes
And listen to your heart,
For souls that love completely
Are never truly apart.

I’ll live within your kindness,
In every strength you show,
In every dream you dare to chase,
In every place you go.

So walk beneath the stars, my love,
And know you’re never alone—
For wherever love is carried,
That is where my soul has grown.

And when your heart remembers me,
Don’t grieve the love we knew.
Just smile and know that every breath
Still carries me to you.

For a mother’s love has no ending,
No boundary, time or shore—
It simply changes where it lives,
And lives within you forevermore.

Through the Lens

When pain becomes the loudest voice I hear,
I pick up my camera and disappear.
I search for the beauty hiding in plain sight,
A fleeting little moment, a shadow, a light.

For through my lens, my aching fades away,
My mind finds somewhere else to be for the day.
I focus on colours, on texture and hue,
On finding the magic in something brand new.

I’ve given photoshoots, just to share the joy,
To capture someone’s beauty, a memory to enjoy.
For giving someone moments they can treasure and keep,
Can sometimes bring happiness when life feels too steep.

Those hills and those beaches, the sunsets aglow,
The birds and the bugs and the streams as they flow.
I’m lost in the moment, completely set free,
Capturing Mother Nature’s treasures open to me.

And when I cannot walk, or my body won’t move,
I return to those moments and find my own groove.
That walk through the forest, that stream rushing by,
That moment with sunlight and warmth from the sky.

For our minds hold memories, so vivid and true,
They can take us right back to the places we knew.
And through every photograph, I’m able to see
A world full of wonder that still lives in me.

So photography isn’t fortune, or followers, or fame,
It’s finding a moment beyond pain’s constant claim.
A doorway to nature, where my mind can be free,
A little piece of healing that Mother Nature gives to me.

Beyond the Week

No robin sings of Monday’s dawn,
No oak counts Fridays coming on.
The rivers never rush or wait,
They simply flow—they’re never late.

The blackbird greets the morning sun,
Not knowing where the week’s begun.
The fox beneath the silver moon
Has never feared that Monday’s soon.

The flowers bloom when warmth appears,
Unmoved by calendars or years.
The tide obeys the moon above,
The wind is guided, not by love…

Not by a page, a clock, a name,
Nor boxes built to tame the same.
It dances to an older song,
A rhythm where we all belong.

The dawn arrives, the dusk will fall,
Without a week to rule them all.
Each season knows precisely when
To lose its leaves, then bloom again.

Yet we have built invisible walls,
With ringing bells and endless calls.
We’ve labelled moments, numbered days,
And trapped ourselves in measured ways.

We chase a Friday, dread a Monday,
Dream our lives will start “one day.”
While all around, the earth stands still,
Content to turn by nature’s will.

Perhaps we’ve simply lost our place,
By running at a frantic pace.
For life was never meant to race,
But breathe with quiet, timeless grace.

The day is real, the stars, the sky,
The changing seasons passing by.
The month the moon has gently spun,
The year completes another run.

But weeks are stories we have penned—
Useful tools, but not the end.
For underneath the plans we keep,
The soul remembers something deep.

So breathe beneath the open blue,
Let birds remind what’s always true.
Time isn’t something you must chase…
Sometimes, the greatest gift is space.

For nature whispers, soft and slow,
“Be where your feet already know.”
The present is where life will speak
It has no need of any week.

We Didn’t Need a Warning Label

We didn’t need a warning sign
To tell us when we’d crossed the line,
We learned by doing, day by day,
And sometimes learned the harder way.

We’d climb the trees and ride too fast,
Then pick ourselves up from the grass.
A scraped-up knee, a bruise or two,
Were lessons teaching what not to do.

We didn’t need a label there
To tell us not to touch or stare.
If something looked incredibly hot,
We knew damn well to touch it not!

And peanuts proudly sat on shelves,
With labels warning us ourselves:
“May contain nuts” — well, I should hope!
That’s why I bought the bloody packet! Nope!

And cars were once a different breed,
With Haynes manuals there to read.
We’d strip them down and fix the lot,
With greasy hands in someone’s cot—
Well, usually Dad’s, or someone’s shed,
With bolts and bits all round the bed!

Now cars have stickers by the dash,
To warn us not to make a splash:
“Please don’t drink the battery acid!”
Well, thank you kindly — I’m glad you said it!

And everywhere we look today,
There’s something telling us the way:
“Don’t eat this, don’t touch that,
Stay closed-minded, be a twat!”

Have we forgotten how to think,
Or must we label every drink?
Must everything come with a guide
To tell us which way up to decide?

Perhaps it isn’t that we’re fools,
Or that we’ve lost our common rules—
It’s just that every daft mistake
Now needs a label, for goodness’ sake!

The world has changed, that much is true,
And some good sense has left us too.
But surely we can still retain
A little common sense again?

For once we learned from what we did,
We weren’t protected, wrapped and hid.
We lived, we laughed, we learned the hard way—
And somehow still survived each day!

So here’s to common sense once more,
To figuring things out as before.
No warning label, guide or chart—
Just use your head, and use your heart. ❤️

Nature’s Riches

Before the world begins to wake,
I walk the woods, the fields, the lake.
Where dawn spills softly through the trees,
And dances lightly with the breeze.

The morning dew on emerald grass
Holds tiny stars in crystal glass.
Like nature’s riches, freely sown,
More precious far than gems we’ve known.

The silver moon on quiet streams
Still lingers, wrapped in whispered dreams.
Each gentle ripple, soft and bright,
Reflects the fading kiss of night.

I lift my camera—not to take,
But simply for remembrance’s sake.
To hold the beauty, wild and free,
That Mother Nature gifts to me.

For every photograph I frame
Could never truly do the same;
Yet each one softly dares to say…
“I saw the magic of today.”
