In October 2014, street artist Banksy visited Clacton seafront. You may remember it appeared just days before a high-profile by-election, which was triggered after the local MP, Douglas Carswell defected to UKIP.

The mural was painted over (it would’ve been worth about £200,000 to £400,000) after a single complaint deemed it "racist graffiti”, not understanding it was a satirical commentary on anti-immigration rhetoric.

There’s a 48-hour removal policy. Let’s keep an eye on this to make sure if there’s any racist graffiti in future that is worth £0 it gets removed.
