I’ve reached that magical stage of a drawing where I’ve decided it’s finished….⁣
⁣
Which, as anyone who knows me will understand, means I’ll now spend the next 78 minutes staring at it wondering whether it needs one tiny little thing before eventually remembering that “one tiny little thing” is usually how I completely f**k things up. 😂⁣
⁣
So, as a precaution, the pens have been forcibly removed from the immediate area.⁣
⁣
Like the vast majority of what I do, this one started with no grand plan whatsoever. Just shapes, lines, colour and the usual process of allowing one decision to cause another, then another, until eventually I’ve somehow constructed what looks like the architectural plans for a building designed by someone who was sacked halfway through the job.⁣
⁣
Red. Ridiculous pink. Purple. Black.⁣
⁣
Straight lines that aren’t particularly interested in behaving.⁣
⁣
Curves turning up where they weren’t invited.⁣
⁣
Bits apparently supporting other bits despite having absolutely no structural qualifications whatsoever.⁣
⁣
Basically…..business as usual. 😂⁣
⁣
I’m calling it finished.⁣
⁣
Please nobody zoom in and tell me there’s a massive empty bit that needs something in it. I’m extremely suggestible. 😬😂⁣

Apparently I’m back to posting artwork again. Look at me being all organised and productive. 😂⁣
⁣
This one started, as they often do, to quell the bad thoughts that lead me down the wrong path……and with absolutely no idea where it was going to end up.⁣
⁣
Then one shape became another, lines started crossing lines, structures appeared, collided, overlapped and somehow began holding each other together. ⁣
⁣
Which feels appropriate for me, I think. ⁣
⁣
Structural Dependency is probably one of the more architectural pieces I’ve made recently. There’s something in it that reminds me of a building that’s been repeatedly altered over time, extended, repaired, reinforced and adapted until the original structure is almost impossible to find.⁣
⁣
I’m becoming increasingly interested in that idea: not perfect geometry, but my style of geometry that’s had to cope with something. Almost like order without perfection or structure without certainty.⁣
⁣
And, naturally, approximately fourteen billion tiny lines because apparently I hate having functioning hands. 😂⁣

So………It’s been a while.⁣
⁣
The last time I posted here was 12th March. Since then, life has had a few other, very unexpected ideas.⁣
⁣
A lengthy bout of gastroenteritis (which seems to be clinging on as long as possible), an umbilical hernia, ongoing health issues and a period where my mental health needed far more attention than my social media needed, which has left me largely absent from my art practice, this space and all of you awesome people.⁣
⁣
There were days when creating felt impossible and days when simply getting through the day felt like enough of an achievement.⁣
⁣
But slowly, piece by piece, line by line, I’ve found my way back to the drawing board.⁣
⁣
This is one of the first works I’ve felt ready to share.⁣
⁣
Looking back, I’ve realised that creativity isn’t always about momentum. Sometimes it’s about persistence. Sometimes it’s about continuing after everything else has ground to a halt.⁣
⁣
So while this piece is made from geometry, structure and colour, it also carries a little of the uncertainty, frustration and determination of the last few months.⁣
⁣
It’s good to be drawing again.⁣
⁣
It’s good to be back.⁣
⁣

Another one made in early 2024.⁣
⁣
Like yesterday’s post this drawing has sat in a pile of finished work that I never showed anyone.⁣
⁣
Over the past few years I’ve realised that most of my drawings begin the same way. Not with an idea, but with pressure. When things get heavy, I start drawing systems. Instead of shutting down, I start building.⁣
⁣
Sometimes the drawing feels like chaos.⁣
Sometimes it feels like a machine trying to repair itself. I let my lines become routes, the shapes transform into chambers and these structures start forming on the page.⁣
⁣
Sometimes the result feels unstable but, to me, this one felt different. Instead of everything fighting for space, the elements began to organise themselves. Different parts of the drawing finding a way to coexist. Not perfect balance, but something close enough to hold.⁣
⁣
I’m slowly starting to release the work that’s been sitting unseen for so long .⁣
⁣
I think the process matters just as much as the finished piece.⁣
⁣

This was made in early 2024.⁣
⁣
It’s been sitting in a growing pile of finished work that I’ve never had the confidence to share.⁣
⁣
The strange truth about that pile is that the vast majority of these drawings begin at the same point. The point where things start to fall apart.⁣
⁣
When the mind starts turning against itself and when the noise gets loud. When surviving the day becomes the only objective. Instead of disappearing, I draw.⁣
⁣
Lines become the scaffolding. Shapes become load bearing structures. Geometry becomes a way of holding things together.⁣
⁣
Sometimes colour leaks through the system like a signal. This pink block feels like that to me. A pulse inside the structure.⁣
⁣
I’m going to start sharing more of these pieces that have been sitting unseen for months or years. Not because they’re perfect, but because they are honest.⁣
⁣
And honesty deserves daylight.⁣
⁣

Before anything else, I just want to say thank you. 2025 was another year of support, encouragement, conversation from you all. Thank you to the people who’ve followed my work for years, to those who found it somewhere along the way, you’ve kept this going more than you probably realise. Some pieces arrive all at once; others build themselves slowly, line by line. This one felt like watching something inside me reassemble in real time.⁣

There’s fracture here, but also precision.⁣
⁣
Pressure, but also balance.⁣
⁣
Chaos leaning its weight against structure until something steady appears.⁣
⁣
This is the first piece I’ve made where I felt myself shifting back into motion again, not all the way, but enough to start rebuilding. Enough to feel the mechanics inside me beginning to wake up again.⁣
⁣
