ETHEMIA

Whether in the UK or abroad someone is talking about Ethemia – the inspirational acoustic duo from Gloucestershire which is made up of Michaela Mott and Berny Poulton. Having played together solidly for over five years throughout Europe and across the UK, they are attracting ever increasing volumes of plaudits and media attention. Known as “one of the most sincere and hardest working ban

ds on the circuit” performing two to five gigs a week and broadcast on over 50 radio stations, including BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music, The Gaby Roslin Show BBC London and featured on BBC Radio 2. Their distinctive sound with strong vocals, beautiful harmonies, catchy melodies and great guitar riffs brings 'Fleetwood Mac' and 'The Beautiful South' to mind, but their trademark charismatic onstage chemistry suggests ‘The Civil Wars’. Following the release of their debut album, 'Quirk of Fate' good reviews quickly followed from Press, Magazines and Media, including the BBC and Fatea Magazine. We now await their EP 'Common Ground' and their forth coming album 'Pure Intention'. It is rumoured they have some great session musicians performing on these titles; the like that have worked with Van Morrison to Dylan and from Sting to Natalie Imbruglia. They have played many great venues, small and large from the intimate 'Sofar Sounds' to the 'Union Chapel'. They have supported many legendary acts including, The Strawbs, Curved Air, Loudon Wainwright III and are soon to be supporting Steeleye Span. MUSIC INDUSTRY QUOTES & REVIEWS
TV & Radio presenter Gaby Roslin on BBC Radio London, was moved to comment on air: “Fabulous music... that was amazing! The entire studio is lost for words... I’m completely overwhelmed. Would you please come back on my show?”

“Ethemia…absolutely amazing! Incredible! …one of my albums of the year." Paul Moss BBC Introducing

“Quirk of Fate… powerful and thought provoking.”
Neil King Fatea Magazine

“Unbelievably beautiful! I love your harmonies… spine chilling stuff... I love it! There aren’t enough male and female duos out there. There needs to be more like you in the mainstream.”
Stephen Bowman ( Blake Band. The winner of 3 Brit Awards)

"Ah ah Graham Norton, I have Ethemia on my show... you don't!"
Gaby Roslin BBC London

“In a word… Stunning! Ethemia is more on the level of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush’s tender and piquant duet…"
Green Man Music Promotions

"I hear two utterly exceptional voices... absolutely fantastic!"
Pete Brown Co-writer with rock supergroup 'Cream' (Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker)

“Nice!”
Tom Robinson’s Fresh on the Net. BBC 6 Music

“Keep doing what you are doing.”
Jimmy Hogarth Grammy Award Winning Producer (Duffy, Paolo Nutini, KT Tunstall, Amy Winehouse)

" I was priviledged to see Ethemia perform at an intimate gig last night, they were incredible, just amazing..their voices & guitars dancing together...speechless, ...their album is one of my albums of this year so far." Paul Moss BBC Introducing. Quirk of Fate (Album Review)
"Stunning... Ethemia is more on the level of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush’s tender and piquant duet... It is a timeless anachronistic record, it could have been recorded thirty years ago or might be of thirty years hence, but the result of writing and performing of this standard is that you truly feel it in the here and now." Dave Franklin ~ Greenman Publications 2013

Quirk of Fate (Album Review)
"Quirk Of Fate" kicks off with the powerful and thought provoking "Fingerprints On Me", a love song that is full of images of obsession and possession and which lays down a marker that Ethemia are a duo more than happy to dip a toe, foot, leg into the darker side of the human condition... Ethemia have only been together a relatively short time, but seem to have a real chemistry about them, something only enhanced by what seems like a slight West Country lilt. "Quirk Of Fate" an assured debut that more than lives up to its opening promise." Neil King Fatea Magazine April 2013

"Gearing themselves up to becoming famous, if I'm any judge." Chris Fry's Groovy Things Show ~ Stroud Fm Radio 107.9. "Their music and chemistry is a magical thing to behold with lush vocal harmonies and spellbinding melodies." The Prom, Bristol. Customer Comments on 'Quirk of Fate'
"So enchanting and relaxing - brilliant album." Customer Review

"Well written songs with personal and interesting lyrics set to good memorable melodies and some beautiful harmonies. They're also two of the nicest people you're likely to meet at a gig - so buy this album then go see them live!"

Michaela and I are always so proud of our children's involvement in music. And many of you would've seen recently her son Ben playing the drums at an open mic. He is currently learning bass (which my son Isaac is teaching him). It is fabulous! You may see us all on the stage together at some point🙂

Well, just recently my son Isaac collaborated with my nephew Louis (DaMyth), to produce an amazing tribute to my sister Teresa, on the anniversary of her passing.
Louis for his grandma (Teresa) wrote the most amazing song with such heartfelt and true lyrics, which he sings with such passion. The musical backing was composed, performed and produced by my son Isaac (I remember the massive blisters he had on his fingers in being determined to finger-tap the main guitar melody). Not to mention that our late producer and wonderful soulmate, Damon Sawyer, who sat in with Isaac when he was producing it, gave him valuable advice and the thumbs up.

I am so proud of there collaboration and tribute for my sister. And as for her love and belief in her grandson, to whom she had said, "Louis, Your Art is You!" Hence the title of his single, and the cover art, the beautiful horses, being just one of her many amazing artworks. All put together as a single product by Teresa's daughter Zoe❤
Anyone wishing to hear this wonderful tribute can click on the YouTube link below. It is also available on Spotify, Amazon, and Apple music.

We are thrilled to be supporting the legendary Russ Ballard next Friday 23rd January at The Stables Milton Keynes.

Russ Ballard is an English rock singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer. Originally rising to prominence as the lead singer and guitarist of the band Argent, Ballard became a prolific songwriter and producer by the late 1970s. His compositions "New York Groove", "You Can Do Magic", "Since You Been Gone", "I Surrender", "Liar", "Winning", "I Know There's Something Going On", "Can't Shake Loose", "So You Win Again", "No More the Fool" and "God Gave Rock and Roll to You" became hits for other artists during the 1970s and 1980s. He also scored several minor hits under his own name in the early and mid-1980s.

He left Argent in 1974 and pursued a solo and songwriting career. Penning such hits as Three Dog Night's "Liar", Hot Chocolate's 1977 UK chart topper "So You Win Again", and Rainbow's 1979 hit "Since You Been Gone". Russ also wrote Rainbow's 1981 song "I Surrender", which charted at number 3 in the UK.

He wrote and performed on Roger Daltrey's first two solo albums, Daltrey (1973) and Ride a Rock Horse (1975). Daltrey recorded some other Russ Ballard originals for his McVicar soundtrack, and his albums Under a Raging Moon and Can't Wait to See the Movie. Russ went on tour with Roger Daltrey in 1985, playing guitar and singing.

This is a beautiful venue! Our dear friend and bassist Steve Sculpher will be performing with us! We can’t wait!

Love Michaela & Berny ###
