Have we all survived the summer holidays? 🫠

I won’t lie this summer has been hard. Trying to find the balance between work and the children has been a tough one, and I’ve mostly felt like I’ve been doing a half job on both. Add to that the usual juggle of life admjn, household chores (does the laundry ever end 😭) and I am definitely craving being back in routine and having clear working hours.

But, I’m within deadlines for galleries and I’m grateful I’ve had work to see me through and that we have had such wonderful weather.

Newborn enquiries have been coming in thick and fast this last week for the next three or so months. So if you’re thinking about a session, getting your space booked sooner is always a good idea.

An Unforgettable Experience 🥹

A few months ago I was trusted to capture one of the most sacred experiences we as women go through in life - a birth.

This has been something I have wanted to do for a long time but the timing just wasn’t right. The opportunity finally came round and C trusted me with this moment. And what an amazing, incredible and unbelievable thing it was to witness. Having birthed twice myself, I am well aware of the pain, the exhaustion, the excitement, the tears and all the emotions that come with birthing a baby. But witnessing it as a bystander, it’s almost even more wondrous what a woman can do.

I can just see these two girls in a few years; running wildly through long grass, under warm summer sun, squealing with joy. And then when they are older, girls sharing secrets, doing their hair and makeup together, supporting each other. As adults, maybe even raising their own babies together. A lifetime of friendship that started in the womb.

Booking and meeting new clients is always a bit of a scary and exciting thing 🫣

I’m always a little nervous - even after all this time - because I always want to do the very best I can for my clients. With repeat clients I’m a bit more settled, because I know them, we’ve worked together before and I know that they know how I work and my style.

New clients haven’t had that experience yet. And your client experience is one of the most important parts of my job, other than the final images.

I met Gemma, Mitch and baby Poppy last month and thoroughly enjoyed my session with them and their resulting gallery. And thankfully (it’s always a heat dropping moment pressing send!) they did too! ❤️

Receiving lovely messages after gallery deliveries is still so exciting for me and genuinely makes me so happy that I have done a good job for you. And Gemma send me the sweetest messages and also left a lovely google review 🥹🥹

I think, that you can never have too many photos.

I have that feature on my phone where if I pop into the photos app, it gives me these little summaries or video montages of ‘this time 5 years ago’ and I get to be transported back in time, and I get to see my babies being babies again.

Photographs must be the closest thing we have to time travel, and so it stands to reason, the more photographs we have, the more we get to travel?

Who cares if they are chaotic, wild, sad, soft, full of snuggles or twirling skirts. If they are full of the treasures they live to collect, rocks, flowers, shells - pressed deeply in their palm because they are just so precious at that moment in time.

One day will be the last day. The last brought home treasure, the last time you pick them up, the last time they kiss your cheek, and documenting it now means you can revisit that moment whenever you like, and that, is special 🤍
