Informal Conversation: Women in Art

To celebrate our third inaugural exhibition “Through Her Eyes”, we invite you to join us for a special informal conversation at The Hyde Gallery exploring the role and influence of women in art today.

The discussion will feature Aleksandra Imaikina, art historian and founder of Firuzzi Art & Travel, in conversation with Lyudmila Hyde, founder of The Hyde Gallery, together with gallery artists. Together we will reflect on women’s perspectives in art, creative journeys, and the stories behind the exhibition.

Aleksandra Imaikina brings a rich academic and cultural perspective. A graduate of St Petersburg State University, Bard College, and Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, she is the founder of Firuzzi Art & Travel and curator of bespoke art journeys. At the centre of her work is art as a way of understanding places, histories, and ourselves more deeply.

New collection by David Cottingham – unveiling at AAF Battersea.

We are proud to present David’s latest body of work at Stand L8 with The Hyde Gallery from 4–8 March at the Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring.

This exciting new collection by David Cottingham brings together his signature expressive dancers and powerful new abstract works. Radiating movement, colour and emotional energy, the dancers capture fleeting moments of rhythm and connection, while the abstracts explore bold compositions layered with luminous tones and rich textures.

Dynamic, uplifting and instantly engaging, these new works reflect David’s continued exploration of the space between figure and abstraction - paintings that truly come alive in person.

We look forward to welcoming you at Stand L8.

New collection by Cécile Ganne - unveiling at AAF Battersea.

We are proud to present Cécile’s latest body of work at Stand L8 with The Hyde Gallery from 4–8 March.

In this new collection, Cécile turns her focus to women - not simply as subjects, but as presences. These paintings are layered, immersive, and deeply contemplative. The more you look, the more they reveal. Colours shift, forms emerge, and emotion unfolds through subtle gestures and expressive brushwork.

What we love most is their depth. Each piece draws you in - beyond the surface - into a quiet, powerful inner world. Strength and softness exist together. Mystery and clarity sit side by side.

These works are not just seen, they are felt.

Join us at AAF Battersea to experience them in person.

New collection of ceramic figure sculptures by Gillian Brett - launching at AAF Battersea.

We are delighted to present these powerful, handcrafted works at Stand L8 with The Hyde Gallery from 4–8 March.

Each piece is entirely unique, shaped by hand and finished with Gillian’s beautifully tactile patinas. What we love most is their honesty - the figure feels completely real. Strong yet vulnerable. Raw yet refined. Perfect in its imperfections.

These sculptures celebrate the beauty of the human form in its truest state - expressive, textured, and unapologetically authentic.

Join us at AAF Battersea to experience them in person. .brett

Gillian Brett’s sculptural practice bridges tradition and contemporaneity, using time-honoured techniques to reflect on modern life.

CORE: AXIS centres on the female form, created from life while working with a live model in Catalonia. The poised, suspended figure embodies balance, strength, and quiet resilience.

The sculpture rises above a stone base salvaged from the grounds of Chiswick House, carefully reclaimed with the approval of the Chiswick House & Gardens Trust during preparations for the new Learning Hub (opening 2026). Gillian’s studio is part of the Chiswick House Creative Campus, housed within the Grade I listed gardeners’ sheds beside the historic Kitchen Garden.

Brett is also known for her bronze commemorating Suffragist F***y Wilkinson - the first professional female landscape designer in the UK. Unveiled in July 2025 in Coronation Gardens, Southfields (a park originally designed by Wilkinson), the sculpture is now on permanent public display.
