Barnet Choral Society

Barnet Choral Society Barnet Choral Society was founded in 1940 and currently has around 80 members. We are a non-auditioned, adult choir.

We provide an opportunity to learn and enjoy choral music in a relaxed and positive atmosphere. We're a non-auditioned choir and welcome singers of all ages and abilities. We sing a mix of material which we hope will suit everybody. Our repertoire ranges from old to new; from sacred works to opera choruses and folk songs; from light-hearted to serious and from straightforward to difficult. We give

four concerts a year using professional soloists and orchestras. These are normally held in Barnet but occasionally elsewhere, for example, St Albans Cathedral and Saffron Hall. From time to time we organise short tours abroad - we've been to Barcelona, Prague, Verona and Northern Cyprus.

The choir is having a wonderful time singing this glorious and famous music and we're sure you'll also love it.

If you'd like to join a choir in North London, this is a great opportunity to see what BCS does. If you like what you see and hear, come and join us on Wednesday 15 April for our first rehearsal of the summer term.

We're always happy to welcome new members - no audition required, just the ability to sing in tune - and the first term is free.

What an interesting and exhilarating day learning about and singing the wonderful Requiem by Mozart. There were over 100 participants, aged from 11 to 80+, and our MD, Rory, pitched everything at a brilliant level so that we all enjoyed ourselves - and, wow, we made an amazing sound! We hope that many of the non-BCS attendees will join us to sing Handel's fantastic Messiah this term.

We start rehearsing Handel: Messiah on Wednesday 7 January. Why not join us? We'll be performing this well-loved oratorio on Saturday 28 March. ​​

Under normal circumstances, rehearsals are between 19:40 and 21:50 at Queen Elizabeth's School, usually in the main hall. There are good car parking facilities on school grounds.

Thank you to all who joined us tonight for our Christmas concert. You sang the carols and songs for audience with great enthusiasm and The Twelve Days of Christmas went down particularly well, especially with some little people who sang with tremendous gusto. We were all rewarded afterwards with mince pies and mulled wine. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

In Barnet today with Barnet Choral Society for the recording and premiere of Three Songs of Sunlight by Au Arias - one of Making Music UK 's Adopt a Music Creator projects this year that I've been mentoring this year, funded by PRS Foundation and the Philip and Dorothy Green Music Trust. A stunning venue too!

We've had our final main rehearsal and the programme is sounding beautiful. Do come and join us on Saturday.

We've had our final main rehearsal and the programme is sounding beautiful. Do come and join us on Saturday.

This will be a very exciting concert as not only are we performing the beautiful and much loved Requiem by Brahms but we will also be giving the World Premiere of the three lovely songs that Au Arias (https://auarias.com/) has composed for our choir.
