The kitchen is a hive of activity as soon as we arrive at 10am, the milk gets decanted, the crockery checked, and urns get bubbling ready for our cuppa before doors open

19 Fourteas Tearoom deliver the food, allergy labels carefully cross-checked, and the team lay the tables

Showmen Events Group Sam arrives and sets up the PA and lighting, ready for sound checks. Shown chatting to our club 'Guest Buddy' (aka my Mum), who I seat with any solo or nervous guests to settle them in and introduced to others.

What happened in May! We had a very special Hollywood star come to visit (Liza Minelli!), and superstar drag queen Chanel No5, who blew us away with her powerful vocals

Our team of volunteers, as always, looked after our guests perfectly, and even though it wasn't as hot as it is now, we cranked up the air conditioning and had a wonderfully cool afternoon

As always, our Principal Community Partners Waterhaven Place Care Home and Promedica24 Homecare donned pinnies and kept the tea flowing

Next week is the June event, and we are looking forward to having lots more fun with you all. There are a few spaces left, so book now before the end of Friday when food is ordered

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who have been part of the club over the past two years.

Volunteering is so much more than just showing up.
So much more than a role and a task.
Volunteering is good for your soul, and we’ve witnessed so much friendship that has extended far more than the two hours of the event itself.
