Hi I'm Emma, a trainee clinical psychologist currently doing my community placement at Radiate Arts. Keep reading to hear about my time so far!

Last week I spent time at the Un-Shuttered: LGBTQ+ Lives Hidden in Plain Sight exhibition at Chester Cathedral.

The exhibition was filled with a beautiful collection of personal stories, photography, visual media and creative art.

I had the joy of taking part in the photocollage and photoembroidery workshops and on Tuesday Evening experienced my first Tea time Tuesday workshop hosted by Lisa at VegEd. We each cooked a pepper and butternut squash stew which was delicious.

It has been lovely to meet so many new people here at Radiate Arts and to have the opportunity to be creative in an inclusive space.

I'm three weeks into my placement and I have gently eased myself into learning new ways to be creative.

I'm not sure I would call myself a 'creative' person but I enjoy being in my garden, creating borders, experimenting with colour and texture and figuring out what plants go well together.

Since being at Radiate Arts I have tried embroidery, sewing and collage. I have very little experience with them but that hasn't mattered as the volunteers and staff here have guided me through how to do it.

It's all about having a go and seeing where the creativity takes you :)

Make a little space for yourself.

Take some time out of your week to slow down, get creative and try something new.

Join us at Radiate Arts for a relaxed six-week creative wellbeing course starting on November 3rd. Explore different creative materials and activities in a friendly, welcoming space.

There’s no pressure, just time to unwind, make things and enjoy doing something for yourself.

Over 6 weeks we will explore paper crafts, weaving and clay sculpture.

Tuesdays, 3 November – 8 December
10:30am–12pm
Open to anyone aged 18+ – no experience needed
