The region’s theatre family were saddened to hear the news yesterday that John Hudson has passed away.
Although Matchbox hadn’t worked with John, many of our members had done so as part of other theatre companies.

The Committee and Members of NODA North are deeply saddened by the passing of John Hudson.
John's contribution to the world of music and theatre was immense. Through his talent, dedication, and passion for the performing arts, he enriched countless productions, inspired performers, and brought joy to audiences throughout the region. His legacy will live on in every note played, every curtain raised, and every memory shared by those fortunate enough to have worked alongside him.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Elissa, John George, Harry, and William at this very sad time.
A Tribute
The overture has softly faded,
The final curtain gently falls,
Yet melodies that John created
Will echo through our theatre halls.
Though one cherished seat now stands empty,
And one familiar baton rests,
The music lives beyond the silence,
A lasting gift among the best.
For every stage that lights tomorrow,
And every song that finds its voice,
Will carry something of John's spirit,
Whose talent helped so many rejoice.
