THIS. This is what Purple Pie was made for.

Tomorrow night we’re hosting our very first solo artist show, and I can’t quite believe I’m writing that!

For one evening only, we’re bringing together James Sherwood’s incredible Skyline Series, including his HUGE 2-metre Bristol original, and James himself will be there to meet you, chat about his work and share the stories behind these extraordinary paintings.

And honestly, I’m so bloody excited.

A little while ago, I sat down with James for what was supposed to be a quick interview. 25 minutes later (the man can TALK 😂), we had a brilliant conversation about his art, his process and everything in between.

I’ve managed to squeeze some of that into this five-minute video for you to enjoy.

But what makes tomorrow even more special is the people.

Tickets are selling, artists from our own Purple Pie gang are coming along to support James, and we’re bringing together this wonderful little community that’s been growing around the gallery.

This is exactly what I hoped Purple Pie could become. A place where artists are celebrated, people connect over art, and we get to create evenings like this.

And now it’s actually happening.

ONE ARTIST. ONE EVENING. SOME PRETTY EXTRAORDINARY ART.

An Evening with James Sherwood — The Skyline Series

Saturday 24 October | From 7pm
Purple Pie Gallery, Canton, Cardiff

£5 advance tickets | £7 on the door
Under 18s free
Complimentary prosecco on arrival.

There’s still time to grab a ticket on Eventbrite — link in bio.

Have a watch, get to know James a little, and come and join us tomorrow night.

I have a feeling this is going to be a really special one.

Purple Pie was made for nights like this.

A little gallery. A LOT of incredible art. 💜

From the chaos of installation day to the buzz of opening night… and everything in between.

Our Autumn Group Exhibition is in full swing, and honestly, this one really is something special.

So many different artists, styles, stories and pieces that deserve to be seen properly. Because as lovely as the photos are, some artwork you just HAVE to experience in person.

The colours. The textures. The little details you don’t notice on a screen.

Trust us, this exhibition is worth getting off the sofa for.

And here’s your little reminder that we’re only open SATURDAYS, 12–5pm!

Yep, just one day a week to come and have a nose around, discover some incredible independent artists and maybe fall in love with something for your walls.

Art looks better with a glass of w**e.

Well, we think so anyway.

A little reminder that Purple Pie has another home in the heart of Cardiff.

We’ve been curating the walls at Kindred W**e Bar, bringing original artwork by independent artists into a space where people can enjoy it over a drink, a catch-up or a lovely evening out.

And the best bit? The artwork isn’t just being admired. Pieces have already found new homes.

We love the idea of art becoming part of everyday life. Not something you have to make a special trip to see, but something you stumble across, fall in love with, and maybe even take home.

So next time you’re at Kindred, have a little look around.

You might find more than your new favourite w**e.

A little chat with James Sherwood…

We sat down with James recently to have a good old natter about his incredible Skyline Series, what goes into creating these enormous paintings and the stories behind them.

And we thought we’d share a little of our conversation with you.

But here’s the exciting bit…

James is coming to Purple Pie THIS SATURDAY!

Yep, the man himself. And he’s bringing some pretty spectacular artwork with him.

We’re hosting a special evening with James on Saturday 24 October, where you can meet him, have a chat, ask questions and get a proper look at these incredible pieces. Including that HUGE 2-metre Bristol skyline!

No stuffy gallery vibes. Just brilliant art, good company and a glass of prosecco.

Unpopular opinion from an art gallery owner…

Art doesn’t have to match your sofa.

It doesn’t have to go with the curtains. It doesn’t have to be sensible. And you definitely don’t need to know anything about art to fall in love with a painting.

Sometimes you just see something and think…

I NEED THAT IN MY LIFE.

And that’s enough.

We’re big believers in buying art because you love it. Because it makes you smile, makes you think, or because you simply can’t stop looking at it.

Your walls. Your rules.

What’s the most unexpected piece of art you’ve ever fallen in love with?

Nobody mentions the packing department when you decide to open an art gallery.

One of our larger paintings sold on opening night, which was wonderful news for the artist and its new owner.

Less wonderful for me and Aimee, who suddenly had to figure out how to wrap the bloody thing.

All part of the glamour at Purple Pie Gallery.

And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
