To all of our students past and present who are collecting their GCSE results today:
Today might feel like one of the biggest days of your life. You might be walking into that room excited. You might be terrified. You might already know what you’re expecting. You might have no idea what comes next.
Whatever happens when you open that envelope, please remember this - your results are a measure of what you achieved in a set of exams, they are not a measure of your self worth.
A grade cannot tell you how kind you are. It cannot measure your creativity, courage, resilience, humour, your potential or even the person you are becoming.
If you get the results you dreamed of, celebrate them! You worked for them. Be proud.
If you get results that you didn’t expect - don’t be downhearted. One ‘disappointing’ result does not mean a disappointing future. There are different routes, different opportunities, different doors still to open.
You don’t have to have your entire life figured out at 16.
Your life is not being decided today.
This is not the end of your story. It’s only one chapter.
There are people you haven’t met yet, places you haven’t been, opportunities you’re yet to take, mistakes you’ll learn from, moments you’ll never forget and things you’ll go on to achieve that you can’t even imagine from where you’re standing today.
So whatever is written on that piece of paper:
Hold your head high.
Be proud of how far you’ve come.
Keep going.
Keep dreaming.
Never let a number or letter convince you that you are any less capable of becoming something extraordinary.
We are all so proud of you.
