Final line-up announcement for Shadowlands coming 10/09.

Shadowlands is a brand new international music festival that will take place across four days at the beginning of July 2027 in the historic city of Canterbury.

The festival focuses on alternative, electronic, adventurous and experimental artists.

In addition to live sets, Shadowlands will feature panel discussions, Q&As and a film programme across three performance spaces at the Gulbenkian Arts Centre situated within the University of Kent campus in the city.

Test Dept will be performing at Shadowlands Festival! From the outset, Test Dept were lauded for their innovative use of found objects, scrap metal and industrial detritus as instruments. The group’s unique blend of aggressive percussion, noise, distorted samples and experimental soundscapes also reflected their commitment to challenging the status quo.

JG Thirlwell will be performing as Foetus at Shadowlands Festival, presenting material from the latest Foetus album HALT (2026) and selections of earlier Foetus material. The Foetus show will be performed as a twenty piece chamber orchestra featuring string section, brass section, harp, woodwind, keyboards and percussion as well as guitar, bass and drums.

It will be his first appearance as Foetus in the UK over 25 years, and only the second time the work has been presented by a live orchestra.

Focusing on alternative, electronic, adventurous and experimental artists, names already confirmed to perform include Foetus (official)(performed as a 20-piece chamber orchestra), Lustmord, Test Dept, Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan, Regis (feat. Liam Andrews), ClockDVA, The Wolfgang Press, Githead, hackedepicciotto, People Like Us, Portion Control; :zoviet*france: and more. Further acts will be announced in August.
