In the wake of the great masters of the 60's while at the same time emancipating themselves from them, the artists featured in "Vibrations" bring to light abstract geometric forms – a style that also includes kinetic art – which continue to shake up visual reference points. Indeed, beyond the international dialogue that Danysz has been defending for more than 30 years, this is a dialogue between different generations that is offered through this show.

“Vibrations” presents works by 1010] as well, an artist recognized worldwide for his murals. His astonishing trompe l'oeil optical illusions play with perspectives and disturb our landmarks by creating portals that cross the walls. Whether on a canvas, on a street corner, on a billboard scarred by time or on concrete walls, 1010's creations come to life on all supports. The artist demonstrates a strong graphic coherence created through hypnotic and colorful constructions he spreads around the world.

The sibling duo Roberto and Renato Miaz, aka the Miaz Brothers, turn portraiture on its head with their large-scale, spray paint-on-canvas paintings, whose subjects are presented completely out-of-focus. “We look to provide a visual experience that activates our awareness, that compels the viewer to recognize and re-establish the limits of his or her own perception,” they have said.

Both classically trained artists, the brothers honed their approach to portraiture through ten years of experimentation and travel, during which they eschewed the gallery system, presenting their work in unconventional spaces like nightclubs and corporate buildings. Their experiences coalesced into a keen awareness of the transience of life, reflected in the people they paint, always just beyond our reach.

Four years after his first solo exhibition at the gallery, Mark Jenkins is back with "Outsiders", from December 3 to January 14 at Danysz Paris - Marais. The American artist invites us into his world populated by characters of a striking realism: works that are captivating, intriguing and always provoke strong reactions. Indeed, Jenkins' hyper realistic installations have the ability to sow doubt between fiction and reality through the interaction of his art and the public, the essence of the his work.

Through the exhibition "Outsiders", Jenkins gives shape to his sculptures whose attitude and movement never cease to amaze by their genuine humanization, thus breaking the monotony of daily life. He presents his unexpected sculptures, which are the source of his international reputation: life-size silhouettes camouflaged under their hoods, which he dresses in ordinary clothes. Sitting, standing, lying down, hanging, these characters are at the center of striking scenes taking place in the Parisian space of the Danysz Gallery.

The trio of artists presents their brand new series composed of oil paintings on canvas along with NFT artworks: a significant moment in the art scene, as it is one of the first times that artists working with AI are represented by an international contemporary art gallery!

Dedicated to the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, this new series by is the result of a long research work that led them to collaborate with historians in order to seek out and identify any references to the Seven Wonders in historical texts written by geographers, historians and writers. Today, it is a contemporary journey to the heart of the Ancient World that the young creatives are offering us.

Through “7.1 by Obvious” Danysz gallery invites us to discover the result of the 's many conversations with AI to reinterpret a classic subject in art history.

There is no self-conscious creativity here: the author of the series is not the artificial intelligence but definitely the artists who use it as a tool at the service of their creative process.

OPEN LETTER FROM

Danysz is victim of blackmail on the Chinese art market. In 30 years of activity, including 14 in Mainland China, this situation had never happened to us.
Like some hackers in the digital world, unscrupulous people have been threatening the gallery for the past days, thinking they could be assigned artworks in priority to the detriment of other collectors by trying to scare my employees and me.

This is also the reason why I have decided to take legal action: a complaint for fraud, forgery and defamation has been filed against these crooks with the competent authorities.

With all the due respect for our family of artists, the collectors who have already shown their support in this ordeal, I also want to underline that actions of a few shall not tarnish the hard work of all those who do a wonderful work around the world, including in China, a country where we have had some of our most beautiful shows and projects, discovered amazing artists and where we have a great base of honest collectors. Thanks to you we still have faith in the fact that our world is not in darkness.

The optico-kinetic show – at the same time vibrant, participatory and contemplative – evolves around historic names in contemporary art and gives way to a new generation of artists. More than 70 years after the advent of this movement which crossed the borders, the artists presented within “Vibrations,” bring a new discourse taking control over new technologies.

David Moreno's works have a kinetic feel. The eye gets lost in all these hatches and interstices that let the sun filter through. And so the artist appears to agree with Le Corbusier's famous phrase: "Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light."
Moreno's sculptures are like sketches. They represent an imaginary architecture that stand halfway between 3D-model and crafted object, between concept and realization. This is why the works appear so weightless: they seem not entirely materialized. They still belong to the realm of thought.

“Vibrations” also features works by 1010, an artist recognized worldwide for his murals. We are getting ready for the opening of 7.1 BY OBVIOUS,
the first solo exhibition of displaying the latest series of the artists that was first exclusively revealed at the British Museum last week.

After having revisited Japanese prints, African masks and classical portraits with their well-known series "The family of Belamy” in their previous works, Obvious have decided to use traditional oil on canvas for their new series dedicated to the Seven Wonders.
A technique that gives them the opportunity to engage in a dialogue with the classical artists who preceded them in the treatment of this theme, while also preserving certain visual incongruities resulting from their exploration of the man-machine creation language.

The second part of “Vibrations”, the exhibition held in 2019 at Danysz Paris – Marais is now on display at Danysz Shanghai, until December 31, 2022. Built on its previous success, the optico-kinetic show – at the same time vibrant, participatory and contemplative – evolves around historic names in contemporary art and gives way to a new generation of artists, such as 1010, Elias Crespin, Jan Kaláb, David Moreno, Felipe Pantone and Li Shurui, bring a new discourse taking control over new technologies.

This group show presents works by Felipe Pantone, whose research lies at the intersection of art and science and aims at accuracy and rationality. Pantone, who began as a teenager practicing street art in Torrevieja, in the south of Spain, has gradually evolved to give way to geometric abstraction. Participative, playful, aesthetic and contemplative, the visitor is invited to take part in the kinetic transformation of the artist's works that consist of a controlled chaos such as a representation of our world in the digital age.

At the junction between painting and sculpture, the work of Jan Kaláb is eminently minimal. The artworks of the Czech visual artist appear as enlarged microorganisms, coexisting fluidly and naturally with their environment. Beyond the international dialogue that Danysz has been defending for more than 30 years, this is a dialogue between different generations that is offered through “Vibrations.”

Vibrations features works by Li Shurui, a central figure of the contemporary Chinese scene. Shurui has focused her research on the relationship between space and light. Fascinated by the visual patterns of LED lights, which are an integral part of the modern Chinese urban landscape, she transforms them through optical illusions by playing with perspective. Her works provide a meditative and soothing effect that enfolds the viewer in an alternative reality.

By reactivating an artistic trend born in the middle of the last century, Danysz Shanghai - The Bund demonstrates through this group show how all these artists of the new generation, manage to push back the limits of this uninterruptedly developing movement, while continually enriching and seizing on new scientific and technological innovations, as well as the possibilities offered by the most recently invented materials and means of expression.

For the 2022 edition of Asia Now, Danysz, faithful supporter of the annual event, is pleased to present four artists embodying a rigorous, contemporary and international selection.

From the pop paintings of Wang Ruohan (China) to the representations of sacred mountains by Chen Yingjie (China) passing by the surrealist embroideries of Eko Nugroho (Indonesia) or the mysterious paper sculptures of Li Hongbo (China), each of the works has in common its proximity to the urban world, inspired by what they see in the street or in nature.

This set of works shows the ability of each of these artists to interprate their surrounding environments through strong graphic consistency.

Every year in October, Paris beats to the rhythm of art. With a one-of-a-kind cultural offer, our city is positioned as an international art capital and continues to impose itself as such in today’s unusual context.

This year, as part of Paris+ par Art Basel, Danysz Gallery is pleased to present a Light installation by artist Robert Montgomery. Placed in the Jardin des Tuileries, the light poem Love is the revolutionary energy that annihilates the shadows and collapses this distance between us sets the stage for a hopeful hook.

Work produced for the exhibition URBAINE.S at La Condition Publique, Roubaix, with the support of Interreg, on display from October 18 to November 3, 2022 on the occasion of Paris+ par Art Basel.

Robert Montgomery's textual works are usually found on the streets of large European cities, in place of advertising posters. They parasitize the consumerist discourse, delivering situationist-inspired messages about nature, society, and the human psyche in our contemporary era. Bringing up vast perspectives in time and space through words, Montgomery introduces a crack in the snapshot of advertising, attempting to establish an intimacy with the viewer. "I think when it's at its best," he says, "art is an intimate conversation with strangers, one-on-one, heart to heart."

✨ Studio Visit ✨ Welcome to @rakajoo's Atelier "I learned drawing because I love to tell stories," says Rakajoo. Baye-Dam Cissé a.k.a. @rakajoo graduated from the Art & Image department of @ecolekourtrajme, founded by director @ladjly and @jr. All at once painter, animation designer and boxing champion, this multifaceted artist creates acrylic and oil paintings in which he likes to tell stories. Rakajoo captures the identities of his models to better render them in his paintings. He plays with perspective to better capture the gaze of the viewer. Sometimes he makes hints to artists he admires and who have influenced his way of thinking, like #Vermeer or #Whistler. The artist introduces variations that combine the codes of comics and animation movies within his pictorial practice to create a world endowed with its own graphic coherence. In 2008 he participated in an exhibition on the theme of sport, at the request of the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation. Various group exhibitions followed, including one at the @palaisdetokyo in 2020, "Jusqu'ici tout va bien." 🔎 Focus on @charlespetillon, Le Doute. Since his exhibition «Confluences» (2020) in an 11th century collegiate church, the artist has realized that his minimalist vocabulary, based on the repetition and arrangement of simple geometric forms, resonates with heritage sites. As in this photograph evoking lives dedicated to spirituality and leaving no room for doubt. In contrast, our contemporary lives appear much less linear, more uncertain, full of questions, and marked by changes. Charles Pétillon took this photograph in September 2021 at the Cistercian Abbey of Fontaine Guérard, contructed during the 13th century, as part of French Heritage Days. The balloons in this photograph are for Pétillon a metaphor of our life which "undulates", passes between the pillars that symbolize the obstacles we circumvent during our existence. For Pétillon, balloons are always a pretext to highlight architectural elements, forgotten places, memories or to underline a deep social issue. The project 'Casa Variable' was born out of an ongoing conversation between Felipe Pantone, the artist, and Pablo Limón, the designer. This is now a reality with this one-of-a-kind transmedia exhibition presented at Danysz gallery - Paris. This show is a conceptual tour de force where Pantone’s prismatic colors and geometry meet Limón’s sleek design and brutalist architecture. “I wanted to do something different,” says Pantone, “to take a new approach, try different things, and Pablo was the perfect person to work with.” In his work Felipe Pantone stands out as a worthy heir to the 20th century optico-kinetic precursors. With 'Casa Variable' the anchoring in the history of art goes back even further, echoing the notion of Total Art that emerged in the 19th century and probably laid the foundations of modernity in art. Thanks to Felipe Pantone and Pablo Limón, the visual and chromatic value of what surrounds us is here also put at the service of a total project. PARIS I UPCOMING SHOW After the success of his last solo exhibition presented by Danysz in Shanghai, @lihongboart takes over the Parisian space of the gallery to turn it into a strange place where everything appears different than what it really is. - For his first solo show in Paris, Li Hongbo settles in with his full palette, recreating for us the wealth and complexity of his world as an artist, with a number of works produced especially for this exhibition. An adventurous experience, full of surprises, where our entrenched conceptions of reality and illusion may well begin to lose their footing. - ‘All is Illusion’ includes works made of paper and others made of steel, two materials that are at the core of the artist’s vocabulary. Part of the show centers on the revisiting of ancient statuary, for which the artist is best known.
