REC Youth Theatre is an inclusive theatre company for young people, running weekly drama and performance skills workshops in Buxton. The company also creates theatre productions that are exciting, diverse and always have the company at the heart of the work. Through out the year we also offer our company members Master Classes and and workshops with industry professional

s. REC Youth Theatre Company enables its members to learn and develop drama and performance skills, as well as helping build confidence. It is also a great place to come along and have fun and make friends. REC Youth Theatre Company meets once a week (during term time):

Young REC-ers: ages 6 – 10 (approximately Year 1 – 5/6)
Saturdays
9.30- 10.45
Venue: St Anne’s Parish Centre

Junior Company: ages 10 – 14 (approximately Year 6 – 9/10)
Saturdays
11 - 12.30
Venue: St Anne’s Parish Centre

Senior Company: ages 15 – 19+ (approximately Year 10 upwards)
Mondays
6.30 - 8.30
Venue: St Anne’s Parish Centre

ReZolution Theatre Company for 18 - 25 year olds
Thursdays
6.45 - 8.30
Venue: St Anne’s Parish Centre


Ages are approximate, ability and development will also be taken into consideration. REC's artistic director is Kitty Randle, a professional director, performer, theatre maker and Performing Arts Lecturers. Workshops are also run by visiting leaders from a variety of performing arts industry backgrounds. And we offer bursary places - we would never want fees to stand in the way of someone joining REC. REC Youth Theatre Company is an independent Community Youth Theatre 🎭, based in Buxton, offering a safe and creative space for children 👧, young people 👨‍🦱 and adults 🧔‍♀️of Buxton and the surrounding areas.

Over the years they have developed the following groups within the company, offering weekly sessions to develop acting, theatre and creative skills as well as offering extra opportunities like workshops and masterclasses with industry professionals:

Young REC-ers - a place to creatively play for 6 - 10-year-olds.

Junior Company - a creative, playful and imaginative space to develop acting and theatre making skills for 10 - 14-year-olds.

Senior Company - an ensemble company where skills are further developed, opportunities and challenges widen - creating playful, imaginative and thoughtful work. A space for 14 - 18-year-olds

Theatre Gym is a company for 19 plus adults to develop their skills and knowledge in offers training in widening skills.

They also offer members of all their groups opportunities to work with Babbling Vagabonds as workshop assistants, company performers and makers - developing skills in leading workshops, directing and working in a professional setting.

Their Company members are at the very heart of what they do. REC work hard to support their young people, to give them the best experiences and to work with them as individuals but also as an ensemble.

They try to keep costs as low as possible for their members and offer bursary placements.

In order to continue and develop what they can offer the community they need your help.

We’re still buzzing from this summer’s performances in Grin Low Woods and Buxton Community School. The young people devised the story, shaped the characters, and brought it to life, together. They were such a brilliant bunch that they were awarded "Best Youth Ensemble" in Buxton Fringe. We don't do it for the awards, but we are feeling really proud....it's a lovely nod to the dedication, teamwork and joy that's been part of REC since 1994.
