One week to go – bring the family and play some padel! 🎾

As part of our Sunday of Sport on 6 September, we’ll be running a special Adult & Child Padel Session from 12pm–3pm.

It’s a great opportunity for parents, grandparents or other adults to get on court with the children, have some fun and enjoy padel together.

And there’ll be plenty more happening around the club, with the Tennis Club Championship Finals, Outdoor Bowls Finals, BBQ from midday and the bar open throughout the day.

SUFFOLK COUNTY PADEL CHAMPIONSHIP

15th & 16th August 2026

The 3rd edition of the Suffolk County Padel Championship has been another hugely successful event for Risbygate, with the standard of padel outstanding throughout.

Linda Whipp and Sam Pickering were runners-up in the Open, coming incredibly close to defending their title from 2025.

Gail Corcoran and Susanna Irvine took the Over 50 title in an excellent tournament.

The Over 60s provided a thrilling finish, with Linda Whipp and Sam Pickering facing Gail Corcoran and Susanna Irvine in a play-off. It went right down to the wire, with Linda and Sam eventually winning 13–11 in a deciding championship tie-break.

In the Men’s Over 60s, Mark Gooden and Paul Devine were crowned champions, with Steve Jones and Martin Levens finishing as runners-up.

With more entries than ever before, this year’s Championship demonstrated just how quickly padel is growing across Suffolk. The quality, competitiveness and enthusiasm on display throughout the weekend made it a fantastic celebration of county padel.

Congratulations to all the players who took part — and a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 Suffolk County Padel Championship such a success!

Our next Padel Tournament takes place on Saturday 29 August, with 16 pairs going head-to-head. It promises to be a fantastic day of competitive padel at Risbygate.

If you haven't watched much padel before, this is a great opportunity to come along, see the game in action and experience the fun, fast-paced and social side of the sport.

We run padel competitions and social events throughout the year, so whether you're already playing, thinking about giving it a go or simply wondering why everyone seems to be talking about padel, come down and join us.

As part of our Sunday of Sport, on Sunday 6 September, we're inviting families to come along to try and play padel.

Whether you've played before or you're completely new to padel, it's a brilliant chance to get on court together and discover why it's one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK.

Bring the family, enjoy some friendly competition and then stay to watch the tennis and bowls finals, grab a bite from the BBQ and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere around the club.

🎾 Why is everyone talking about padel?

Our Open Day gave our visitors the chance to find out for themselves, with padel games taking place throughout the day and plenty of people stepping onto a padel court for the very first time.

Fast-paced, social and easy to learn, padel proved a huge hit with visitors of all ages. From families playing together to friends giving it a go for fun, the courts were buzzing from start to finish.

One of the best things about padel is that you don't need previous experience to enjoy it. Within minutes, many first-time players were rallying, laughing and discovering why it's one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK.

If you missed the Open Day but would like to experience padel for yourself, we'd love to welcome you to Risbygate Sports Club.

🎉 Our brand-new Padel Hut is ready for our Open Day this Saturday, 20 June, from 11am–3pm!

Come along, take a look around, explore our facilities, and enjoy a game of padel with us.

A huge thank you to our incredible Padel Hut building volunteers for all their hard work over the past few weeks:
David Leeson, Adriaan Stannard, Chelsea Dave, Jerry Williams, Jon Kydd, Kevin Harris, Nigel Wright, Stuart Kerr and Stuart Lee.

We'd also like to give a special thank you to Denise and John Buckright for the fantastic clean-up of the padel area, ensuring everything is looking its very best for Saturday.

The whole area looks amazing, and we couldn't have done it without our brilliant volunteers. We are incredibly grateful for your time, effort and support.
