Light Sleepers finds Kodeine leaning into a mature blend of indie rock, dream-pop and understated soul. Rather than chasing big hooks, the album builds its impact through atmosphere, restrained performances and thoughtful songwriting. Across its 10 tracks and 34-minute running time, it maintains a late-night mood that feels cohesive without becoming monotonous.
Robert Le Plar's writing is strongest when it leaves emotional space for the listener. The lyrics often hint at disconnection, memory and quiet resilience rather than spelling everything out, while the arrangements favour texture over excess. Guitars shimmer, keyboards add subtle colour, and the rhythm section keeps everything moving with understated confidence.
The album's greatest strength is consistency. There are no obvious missteps, and every song contributes to the overall atmosphere.
