We had a fabulous time last week drawing and eating cake!!! Oil pastels are such a quick medium and so much fun. They’re definitely a medium that grows on you.

Did you know that unlike traditional soft pastels, oil pastels never fully dry out, which means you can blend, layer, and even rework your artwork weeks later!

This week we move on to our first week of watercolour… a completely different feel, but equally magical. Get ready for flowing washes, beautiful colour blends, and learning how to let the water do some of the work! 🎨💧

Last week we took on a coloured pencil chameleon 🦎🎨 The detail and blending achieved was absolutely fabulous!

If you’ve ever wondered why the coloured pencils at home don’t quite blend like this… ✨ professional pencils like Polychromos are oil-based rather than wax-based, which means they layer beautifully, hold a sharp point for fine detail, and create those gorgeous rich colours 🎨

We’ve been running our classes for nearly 7 years now, and one of the most rewarding parts is seeing complete beginners come in and absolutely flourish. Watching confidence grow week by week never gets old.

To our returning students—you’re more than just students now, you’ve become friends. It’s been so special to see not only your progress, but also the friendships that have formed along the way. That sense of community means everything 💛

We pride ourselves on the structure we offer—guiding you step by step, really holding your hand through the process so you never feel lost, no matter your starting point.

People come to art for so many reasons. Of course, it’s about learning and developing skills—but it’s also about giving yourself that time. A few hours where you can switch off from everything else and just focus on you. Your own creative space. Your mind space.

First week back and we were lucky enough to have the sunshine on our side ☀️

This week, we challenged ourselves with a still life study of a musical instrument 🎶 Symmetry can be tricky, but our students rose to the occasion and truly surpassed themselves.

It’s been fantastic to see our new students getting to grips with the basics—they’ve done an amazing job already!

Next week, we’re moving on to charcoal… always a firm favourite 🖤 Stay tuned!

✨ Exhibition Highlights ✨
I’m still on such a high after our recent exhibition 💛
The work on display was absolutely outstanding – such a huge range of styles, creativity and progress. I couldn’t be prouder of our artists 🎨
What made the day even more special was the atmosphere… so much love, encouragement and support in the room. It was honestly just amazing to see everyone together celebrating each other’s work.
I didn’t manage to take many photos (I was far too busy chatting and catching up!), but here are a few little snapshots from the day 📸
✨ AND… we’ve had two last-minute spaces come up in our evening class�📅 Starting Tuesday 21st April�🕡 18:30 – 21:30 and also one for our morning session 10:00-13:00.

This week’s class was all about texture!!! 🎨
We tackled an acrylic peach using textured medium — and honestly, they looked good enough to eat 🍑 The layers, the detail, the depth… so much fun to build up and experiment with.

And can we talk about mixing acrylic paint? I don’t know about you, but I could quite happily stand there for hours blending and creating all sorts of beautiful colours. There’s something so satisfying about finding just the right shade.
Such a brilliant session — we absolutely love seeing you all dive in, experiment, and really enjoy the process. Keep playing, keep layering, keep mixing… you’re smashing it ✨

Watercolour really is such a beautiful (and slightly unpredictable!) medium — and we are loving it 🎨

Over the last two weeks, we’ve tackled a hot air balloon landscape and a rather fabulous frog… and honestly, the results have been amazing 🐸

Each week we’re seeing more confidence, braver brushstrokes, and our students really starting to find their own style — and that’s the best bit.
