Rachel Bebb Contemporary

Rachel Bebb Contemporary My new gallery exhibiting sculpture & ceramics for interiors, letter carving, engraved glass, wood engravings & original prints, by contemporary artists.

Opening October 2022. Many of you have followed and supported The Garden Gallery over the past 28 years. Thank you! The Garden Gallery has now closed and is replaced with Rachel Bebb Contemporary.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
RBC will continue to exhibit work by contemporary artists, both well-established and emerging. On show in two buildings will be small sculptures for interiors, ceramics, wood engravings, engraved

glass, original prints, and letter carving on stone, slate and wood. Some examples of the latter will be shown outside and are suitable for gardens.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
New artists at the gallery, as part of a developing programme, include (tag these people) Neil Bousfield RE, Merlin Chesterman RE, Blaze Cyan RE and Roberta Mason. Loyal regulars from The Garden Gallery will continue to show their work at RBC, including Lisi Ashbridge, Carolyn Genders, Pip Hall, Charlotte Mayer FRSS, Charlie Macpherson, Alyosha Moeran, Rosie Musgrave MRSS, Rebecca Newnham FRSS, Jackie Perkins, Antonia Salmon, Tracey Sheppard FGE, Roger Stephens MRSS and Neil Wilkin.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will be supporting the Society of Wood Engravers (tag) and the Lettering and Commemorative Arts Trust (tag) in the encouragement of young and emerging artists, helping to preserve and promote the timeless, classic skills of wood engraving and letter carving.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As climate change and biodiversity loss continue to threaten the planet, a number of artists are expressing their concerns through their work. I will be supporting and promoting these artists in their efforts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
RBC will hold two exhibitions annually, in May and October. The gallery will be open by arrangement at other times. I look forward to welcoming you to my first exhibition, opening in October 2022.

It is always a unique experience to visit Lotte Glob on her inspiring Croft near Durness in Sutherland. Overlooking beautiful Loch Eriboll, with its rich history, Lotte’s life work is to create ceramics reflecting (and including) her surroundings, and to plant native trees. Her gifts have made a place like no other. Discover beauty and wonder, learn about landscape, and marvel at one woman’s creation.
Lotte’s studio and showroom is open by appointment only.

Zoë Wilson: Presence Through Precision opens TOMORROW!✨

This exhibition marks the first solo show RBC. Zoë is a rising figure in the world of contemporary art, known for her contemplative, pattern-led work carved entirely by hand using British stone.

Originally trained in lettering and stone carving at the renowned City & Guilds of London Art School, Zoë’s practice is grounded in geometry, repetition and meditative focus.

I’m delighted to welcome her to the gallery!

The exhibition runs 3–25 October.

Private View (invitation only):

📅 Friday 3 October, 5–8pm
📅 Saturday 4 October, 11–4pm

If you would like to request an invitation to the private view, please contact [email protected].

Works by other gallery artists will also be on display.

Just over a week until Zoë Wilson: Presence Through Precision opens at RBC ✨

I’m delighted to welcome Hampshire-based stone carver Zoë Wilson to the gallery this October.

Zoë’s contemplative, hand-carved works are rooted in geometry, rhythm, and stillness. Using only traditional tools – mallet, chisel, and compass – she invites us to slow down and look more closely.

She writes:

“In a fast world, precision has become a quiet luxury… Each piece is geometry shaped by rhythm, breath, and touch. The patterns you see are not machine-perfect, but the result of patient focus.

Here, precision is not about perfection – it is about presence. Each line is a decision, each surface, a moment held. There is no rush. The stone does not ask for it.”

The exhibition runs 3–25 October.

Private View (invitation only):
📅 Friday 3 October, 5–8pm
📅 Saturday 4 October, 11–4pm

I would be delighted to welcome you to experience Zoë’s beautiful works in person - if you would like an invite to the private view please email me on [email protected].

Works by other gallery artists will also be on display.

Some kind words from about my summer exhibition ‘Listen to the Quiet’.

You may already be familiar with his Pulitzer-winning book, ‘All The Light We Cannot See’ - a must-read if you haven’t already! He also co-wrote the film with Harrison Ford for the E.O. Wilson Biodiverstity Foundation that inspired the exhibition.

It’s a beautiful and moving film - if you’re yet to see it, you can find a link in my bio

Thank you for the thoughtful message Anthony ✨

Less than two weeks to go until ‘A Poetry of Mysteries: An Evening on Art & Nature as Healers’ at RBC – a special evening of spoken word, demonstration and conversation on the quiet but powerful ways art and nature can help us heal.

Join myself and renowned Wi******er artist Tracey Sheppard FGE, artist Rob Mackenzie and his partner and creative collaborator Syreeta Challinger, who will share their powerful journey through trauma and healing.

🌿 .sheppard_ will talk about how the natural world inspires her extraordinary engraved glass – work rooted in close observation, fine detail and reverence for plants. Tracey is a Past Master of the Art Workers’ Guild and President of the Guild of Glass Engravers, and I’m delighted that her work also features in my current exhibition Listen to the Quiet.

🖋 will give a live demonstration of his beautiful, meditative drawing practice, developed after a life-changing brain haemorrhage. His art explores presence, absence and place – where the space between the lines speaks as loudly as the marks themselves.
💬 Rob’s partner, will share their remarkable story – and speak about how creativity has played a vital, transformative role in Rob’s recovery and their life together.

There’ll be substantial canapés made by and time to explore Listen to the Quiet – an exhibition that responds to conservationist Harrison Ford’s powerful call to protect the “tapestry of life.”

It promises to be a moving, thoughtful evening – and I’d be so happy to see you there.
