West Highland Piano Tuning Services

I'm a piano tuner living on the Isle of Skye. I studied at Berklee College of Music in the USA and got a B.Mus degree with honours. Livin' the dream :-)

Now I'm up here on Skye the tuning business is getting really busy! Most musicians know a great deal about their instrument. They are happy to make tweaks, change parts, tighten screws, repair failing components and, of course, keep them in tune. By contrast, most pianists haven't a clue about the workings of the instrument they play, let alone have the confidence to regulate the action or to pull

a unison into tune. Becoming a piano tuner takes years of study and dedicated hands-on experience. This course is never going to compress this into two days. However, the piano is such a fascinating instrument that I want to share some knowledge and allow you to 'have a go yourself' under the safety and guidance of my watchful eye. The knowledge you come away with should give you the confidence to 'have a go', and the wisdom to know when to leave it to the professionals! Piano Know How is a travelling show and will run anywhere from The Shetland Islands to Land's End. Feel free to suggest your town or city as a possible location - if there are enough people interested I will take the Piano Know How seminar wherever you like! I will even run the course in your own home - and you'll wind up with a nicely tuned piano at the end of the weekend! This course is run for a minimum of four people and costs £160 per person. Unfortunately economics dictate that the course will not run for less than four people so tell your friends!

What a stunning commute to work today to the wee Scottish isle of Canna. Perfect weather, dolphins, puffins galore and a nice old Steinway.
