Neon Dance has secured Arts Council England funding to develop a new interactive performance installation: Sonic Body! 🎉
Sonic Body is a participatory performance installation where audiences generate sound through movement and interaction. Moving through a responsive environment of sculptural threads, participants create a live, evolving soundscape — shaping the work in real time. No two experiences are ever the same.
At its core, the project explores embodied experience — how movement, sound and space can be understood physically, not just observed. It asks what changes when audiences are not watching a performance, but actively forming it.
The work is created by Neon Dance Artistic Director Adrienne Hart, in collaboration with artist and research scientist Dr Ana Rajcevic (MIT) and composer Sebastian Reynolds.
We are now looking for partners to help develop and present the work, including:
➡ venues for development and preview activity
➡ co-production partners
➡ organisations interested in workshops, co-creation or audience testing
➡ programmers for future UK and international presentation
Sonic Body is being developed from Swindon, where Neon Dance is based. This sits within a wider moment of cultural investment and growth in the town, alongside new infrastructure and increasing recognition of Swindon as a place where ambitious creative work is made.
We’re looking for organisations and individuals who want to be part of developing something new — and help shape the next stage of this work.
If you’re interested in collaborating, hosting, or supporting the project, we’d love to hear from you.
