As you lovely folk can probably guess, the ball is all sold out for 2026 - thanks all, we're looking forward to seeing everyone again! 🦇

There will be an official resale thread nearer the time, so stay tuned for that as there are always some available - and watch out for scam bots in the comments. We can always verify any resales for you to make sure they're legitimate. There will also be more info and updates on the way about our offerings for this year.

💀 DEATHLY DISCUSSION 💀

We are pleased to welcome Cat Irving as our guest speaker for this year!

Cat has been the Human Remains Conservator for Surgeons’ Hall since 2015 and has been caring for anatomical and pathological museum collections for twenty-five years. After a degree in Anatomical Science, she began removing brains and sewing up bodies at the Edinburgh City Mortuary. Following training at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, she worked with the preparations of William Hunter at the Hunterian Museum at Glasgow University, where she is now consultant conservator.

Cat is a licensed anatomist, and gives regular talks on anatomy and medical history. In 2022 she carried out conservation work on the skeleton of serial killer William Burke prior to his display in National Museum of Scotland. She has contributed to many publications, including the Routledge Handbook of Museums, Heritage and Death. She is currently writing Conversations with the Dead: The Lives of Human Remains, to be published by HarperCollins in Spring 2028.

Tickets will go on sale at the end of this week! Be sure to get in quick to secure a place as they have sold out extremely quickly in previous years.

We will be sharing some announcements and details of the event over the next week. For anyone who has not joined us before, The Bats’ Ball is a unique yearly gothic gathering in Arnos Vale Cemetery. Guests can experience the magic of the Victorian cemetery after dark with tours and talks from our experts, and then dance the night away with an evening of creepy classics in the Anglican chapel. Our food truck and bar will be on site for you to buy delicious dinner and drinks, and there will be opportunities for photographs and tarot reading. It’s not to be missed!
