I keep seeing the same plugins being shown on here, so I wanted to make a post of some of the lesser known options that I use all the time.

1- Spectre: Looks like an EQ but it’s actually a saturator. Great for bringing out exactly what you want to cut through from any sound:

2- I❤️NY: Parallel compression made easy. Great for adding weight to drums and presence to vocals.

3- UAD Moog Filter: Ok sure it’s just another filter but this one just sounds so good. Comparable to the filter in my Sub37 this is my go to filter plugin.

4- Vertigo VSC-2: This often knocks the SSL-G Bus Compressor off my master bus. Snappy, classy, bright VCA compression that handles low end super well. Great on acoustic guitars too

5- Transient Shapers: As a mix engineer I could’t do without one of these for taming boomy drums. I mostly use them to shorten the decay of sounds. The Kilohearts one is free and works great.

Don't reach for the EQ until you can answer these: What do you want to change about the sound? What's your ideal result? Intentional mixing means knowing your goal before tweaking a single k**b. Stop fumbling and start shaping your sound with purpose.

Sending delay directly to reverb? Game changer. Most people send to one or the other, but routing your delay back into the reverb creates amazing depth and a 3D space for your mix. Try it now!
