David Burnage

David Burnage Indie Folk/Rock singer songwriter and poet, East Sussex. linktr.ee/davidburnage Atmospheric, powerful and emotional. A private diary entry.

The indie/ folk rock music of David Burnage features gripping distinct vocal character and vulnerable, honest songwriting. All served with a sprinkling of stadium backing vocals, soaring guitar riffs and electronic experimentation. Hailing from the coast of East Sussex, David’s music is reflective of the ocean he grew up beside. From the calm, peaceful waters of a summer day to the raging waves of

a darkened evening, his songwriting explores the spectrum of emotion at its extremes. His unmistakable deep and dark, weathered vocal delivers lyrics saturated in meaning, purpose and substance. Reflecting on the joy and suffering of human nature; the regret of the past, the hope, anxiety for the future, and the pursuit of dreams. Inviting us to overhear what feels like an intimate confession. David’s care for lyrical attention is proved in his catalogue of songs and his often powerful and rhythmic rhyming flirts the boundary of poetry. David’s songwriting and production is inspired by artists such as Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, Dermot Kennedy and Leonard Cohen. Since writing his first songs aged 16, he fell in love with the craft and hasn’t stopped since. David Burnage has worked in the acclaimed Abbey Road Studios and Metropolis Studios, is supported by BBC Introducing/ local BBC Radio and has performed at renowned venues such as; G-Live, The De La Warr Pavilion and The Wedgewood Rooms. Burnage’s ambitious arrangements are brought to life with the help of his brother and best mates that form his band, delivering a powerful, convincing and memorable live performance. David has a history of folk and rock influences, he grew up listening to his dad's collection of classic rock music which has developed his appreciation for grit, power and epic arrangements. His involvement in Drumming Procession troops, Morris Dancing Groups and traditional folk mandolin playing developed his interest in Folk music. Which also took him to some unique stages from Sussex bonfires to folk festivals. This concoction of inspiration allows David to create music that can celebrate the quiet whisperings of sadness, loss and pain to the raw shouting of anger, jealousy and frustration.
