The New Immortals

The New Immortals Exploring ideas about immortality in an age of scientific miracles. and What difference would it make if we didn’t have to die?

In an age when scientists can create, manipulate, alter and sustain life to an extent once unimaginable, The New Immortals explores man’s ongoing quest for immortality, from the historic search for eternal life through religion, alchemy, magic and medicine, to the modern miracles of contemporary biomedical science. I’ll be asking: Could indefinite human life become a reality?, Would we really want

to live indefinitely? I’ve been talking to scientists, medical practitioners, philosophers, ethicists, artists, curators and the public to explore ideas around immortality and what it could mean for humanity. The project culminates in an exhibition of new work by myself and nine other artists at Phoenix Brighton in 2016. Supported by a Grant for the Arts from The National Lottery through Arts Council England.
