No matter if you’re brand new to tabletop games or a seasoned hobbyist, our goal is simple: help you connect, laugh and play. I believe in the power of play to bring people together. I love the magic that happens around a board game: strategy, laughter, social connection and the well-needed break from screens. As Game Master, I curate experiences where everyone feels welcome, finds something fun t

o play and connects to others at the table. I want board games to be less intimidating and more accessible to people, so I make it easy to dive straight in — no rulebooks required! Whether you're a total beginner or a hobby veteran, I will find a game you can enjoy :)

I’m delighted to be hosting the games night at tonight’s Dad La Soul Sessions in Brighton.

Modern board games are a fantastic excuse to get people talking, laughing and connecting.

Dads & Games! 🎲

Father’s Day may be behind us, but it’s well known that dads tend to be the playful parent (shoutout to all the mums and non-binary parents who proudly take on that role too!🏳️‍🌈).

It’s one of the ways we connect with our kids. Being kids ourselves, basically 😆

This Thursday 25th June, we’re letting our inner kids loose at the monthly Dad La Soul Dads Only social event, with an evening of modern board games from The Dice & Meeple.

I’ve been part of Dad La Soul for nearly 3 years now.

I first attended because I was new to Brighton and looking for a way to meet people. What I found was so much more than that!

Becoming a dad is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done, but also one of the hardest. I spent years struggling with my mental health, and only recently discovered that ADHD was a big part of the reason why.

Dad La Soul helped me realise I wasn’t alone.
The challenges of fatherhood are real, messy and universal.

Through playdates, social events and conversations however, I’ve met incredible dads, felt welcomed despite all my quirks, and found a genuine sense of belonging.

It reminded me that we’re all figuring things out as we go.

And now I have the privilege of giving something back.

This Thursday’s games night isn’t really about board games. It’s about taking some time off, meeting other dads, having a laugh, and going home feeling a little lighter than when you arrived.

If you’re a dad or male-identifying carer and fancy an evening of good company and light-hearted fun, we’d love to see you there ❤️

Team dynamics!

Last week was such a great session again. 4 new people decided to give The Dice & Meeple a go and were not disappointed 🙏

Plenty of games played and taught of course. We decided to finish the evening with one big game (it's becoming a signature part of the events 😁) of Codenames!

I tend to ignore Codenames a bit... I played it A LOT when it first came out and was all the rage. It is also very mainstream now and I do tend to favour games that people have not necessarily heard of before.

But it was good to play it. It reminded me that it became mainstream for a reason. It's absolutely brilliant and so much fun. To witness the group dynamics that emerge from people that didn't know each other 2h prior is fantastic... 👥

And it was a breeze to set up, teach and play. So we could get into it instantly, play several rounds and still finish on time⌛

All in all, another incredible evening, made even better by the wonderful folks at 🍻

Can't wait to get this going again next Wednesday 🤩

Forecast says rain.
So here's me packing the most important camping equipment for the weekend...

One of the best things about modern board games is that they don't need much space to create great moments.

Even when played on the floor of a tent!

As long as there are friends or family at my table, the weather doesn't bother me one bit 😁

Newcomer's journey 🤗

With our recurring event coming up at the brilliant BeerBelly Micropub & Bottleshop in less than 48h (!), I thought it would be nice to help people that haven't had the chance to join a TD&M Game Night yet, to understand how it works.

So here it is for you in 6 simple steps:

1. Choose your night and book a ticket.
2. Get to the venue, grab a drink.
3. Meet the other players and your GM (that's me 😁).
4. Take your seat at the table with the game that appeals to you the most.
5. Get taught how to play.
6. Play the evening away and connect with fellow humans. ❤️

You don’t need to know the rules, bring games, or arrive with a group. The evening is hosted from start to finish, so you can simply settle in and enjoy a better kind of night out.

Coming solo is perfectly fine.

Fast hands!

Another successful night on Wednesday! 👏👏
Played a several different games throughout the evening.

It was hard to take a proper non blurry photo actually. Everyone was so enthralled in the games and grasping all the rules and intricacies so quickly their hands were moving really fast 😂👐

There was a 6 player game of Skulls that generated so many unique "oh snap" moments... Hilarious!

Then we finished the session with one big game as usual.
After the well loved Bristol 1350, we turned to another hit: Tortuga 1667 🏴‍☠️ 🚣 🦜

While there are quite a few things to understand about the game, my players really jumped in with both feet and tried the actions as I explained them.
Within only a couple of rounds, they were firing on all sides trying to discover who was on their team, organising mutinies and marooning players on Tortuga while gathering treasures... 💣🏝💰

All that with incredible drinks and service from 👌💯

No surprises then, that this lovely little room has now been declared our new gaming den 🥰

As always, I am super grateful to those few that support me on this journey 🙏
