This is the ‘I am your mirror’ collage which I made a while ago. I’m not really sure what at the time inspired it, I think it could be based on a mixture of things I’ve read, seen, listened too or social situations I’ve been in. When I think about what this collage means, to me I think it’s about mirroring others, how one person acts the other person on the opposite end will reflect that, if the energy is off in one, the energy will be reflected back negatively. Some people bring out a beautiful reflection in others, this is that feeling when you connect so strongly to someone wether it be platonic or romantically. Or it could be about something similar to the words in the song I’ve put with my art, someone who does not see the beauty within themselves (which is something I often struggle with) but others showing you that you are the light you do not see. I’m interested to know how others interpret my collage.
The two faces you see I cut out are from the Tokyo Art & Photography exhibition booklet. The faces are from; Tokyo from Utsurundesu series, since 2018, by Ninagawa Mika (b. 1972). Models: AMIAYA © Ninagawa Mika
