Wow wow wow! What a life-affirming, goosepimple-inducing night we had at The Old Library on Friday.

From hype to heartfelt to hilarious, and a trip back in time to unearthed stories, this was a night to remember with Q***r Folk Songs: Sophie Crawford & George Sansome, Give us a Chip and Marianne Joyce.

A huge thank you to our amazing audience and supporters to make this event happen. What a beautiful way to celebrate pride month with our Cornish q***r community and quality music loving allies alike!

When can we do it again?

Introducing your headliners for Q***r Folk Songs
on Fri 19 June at The Old Library!

Q***r Folk Songs: Sophie Crawford & George Sansome

What began as independent curiosity evolved into a shared project after the pair discovered a surprisingly rich archive of q***r folk songs - stories of q***r love, gender nonconformity, and coded expression that had often been obscured or reinterpreted over time.

Since 2021 the project has expanded rapidly with residencies at Britten Pears Arts, the Glasshouse and the EFDSS; an annual residential course at the National Centre for Folk Arts; an annual Q***r Folk Festival and Q***r Ceilidh Dance Parties which have been attended by more than 6000 people. Despite the broad scope of Q***r Folk’s activities the seed and beginning of Q***r Folk was music, songs and archival research.

Performing with guitar, bouzouki and accordion, George and Sophie bring these foundational songs vividly back to life with warmth, wit and care, revealing just how present q***r voices have always been within the folk tradition.

This is part of their wider tour around the UK which starts on Thursday in Newcastle, down to Todmorden Sheffield, Evesham! We’re do lucky to have them coming all this way down to Kernow later this Pride Month.

Announcing a special event for Pride Month this June, thanks to & 🙌

Q***r Folk Songs: Sophie Crawford & George Sansome + guests
The Old Library, Bodmin
Friday 19th June 2026
Tickets: http://q***rfolk.co.uk/events/

George Sansome and Sophie Crawford are the founders of Q***r Folk, an organisation that researches q***r music and champions LGBTQIA+ musicians. After discovering a rich seam of LGBTQIA+ folk songs in the archives, they began performing this powerful repertoire together, breathing new life into long-hidden stories. Accompanied by guitar, bouzouki and accordion, they’re now taking these songs on tour to celebrate the release of their new album.

‘Prepare to have your perspectives rearranged.’ - Tradfolk

‘unearthing LGBTQIA+ history hidden in traditional music’ - KLOF Mag

With Support from Marianne Joyce + Give Us a Chip

Marianne Joyce is an emerging singer-songwriter from the edge of Dartmoor whose indie folk music puts a unique lens on the timeless themes of love and grief, as well as exploring south west stories, q***rness, and a bit of life’s absurdity.

Give us a Chip will bring you a special acoustic set - expect old time and bluegrass vibes in a repertoire of traditional as well as original material.

Thanks to for the amazing poster 🤩
