Hi everyone! We are looking for people with lived experiences to join our panel of 10–12 people, with some members bringing more than one perspective:
Physical disability / mobility – wheelchair or mobility-aid user, ideally someone who regularly experiences venue-access barriers.
Neurodivergence – autistic and/or ADHD person who can advise on sensory environments, predictability, communication and participation.
Deaf / hearing impairment – someone with lived experience who can advise on BSL, captions, hearing systems, acoustics and communication.
Blind / visually impaired – to look at signage, navigation, contrast, websites, audio information and creative adaptations.
Learning disability – particularly important for Easy Read, accessible communication, choice and genuine involvement.
Mental health / hidden disability – to consider barriers that aren't immediately visible.
Complex or multiple disabilities – someone who can bring experience of needing significant adjustments, equipment, personal assistance or alternative ways of participating.
Parent/carer/PA perspective – particularly someone supporting a disabled child or adult with higher support needs.
Inclusive creative practitioner – an artist, workshop facilitator, musician, performer or similar with experience adapting creative activities.
Accessibility professional – for example an occupational therapist, access consultant, disability inclusion specialist or appropriately experienced professional.
Community/venue representative – someone who understands the realities faced by small halls, charities, theatres or cultural organisations when implementing recommendations.
Young person's representative – ideally a disabled or neurodivergent young person, with appropriate safeguarding arrangements, so the standard isn't designed entirely from an adult perspective.
