Dear Members and Colleagues,

The current coronavirus pandemic has affected us all and we are not able to take part in the hobby that we love so much in the same way that we did 6 months ago. However, it has given us time to reflect, to come up with some brilliantly imaginative ways of keeping members involved and being a part of a family unit of each individual society.

The small Guild committee have thought long and hard about the future of the BDTG, particularly the BFAME full-length Peripatetic festival which has been running for the last twenty years under the management of Jean and Roger Cunnington. Both the coronavirus and Roger’s untimely death have bought us to a crossroads and we need to ask our membership (YOU) if you want us to continue running this part of the festival.

If we do continue with the Peripatetic there will have to be some changes; there will be a team of reviewers – so you may not always get the same person coming to see your shows (although we would endeavour to have one person who sees all musicals and another who sees all plays) and the geographical area will be restricted to venues in Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield.

Should the Peripatetic Festival continue then we will need new members and a team of reviewers - do you know of anyone willing to become a reviewer?

Being positive and looking to the future our one-act BFAME festival will be taking place at Highbury Theatre Centre in 2022 but, realistically, for the BDTG to continue we need more people on the committee willing and able to take on some responsibility.
So that we can gauge the feeling of our membership, we would be extremely grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to complete the attached form and return it before the end of October. The future is in your hands!

Kind regards
