From start to finish, this piece was a delight. Making art, for someone else, is truly the best feeling.

Created in 2022 for the Thought Press Project, this piece holds a quiet intensity that continues to resonate with me. It explores the duality of descent and return — the movement between shadow and light — embodied through my interpretation of Persephone.

Persephone’s story has always felt less like myth and more like mirror. The cyclical journey between worlds speaks to the necessity of transformation: periods of retreat, introspection, and stillness that ultimately give rise to growth, renewal, and creative emergence. In this work, the intertwined symbolism of roots, harvest, and the underworld reflects that delicate balance between surrender and resilience.

I recognise myself in her thresholds — in the tension between softness and strength, in the courage it takes to move through darker seasons, and in the understanding that returning is never a regression but a reclamation.

This piece remains a reminder that transformation is not a single moment, but an ongoing rhythm.

Being slow and intentional does not come naturally to me. I am wired for momentum, for moving quickly from one idea to the next, for filling every quiet space with action. Yet this piece asked something different of me.
Each stitch required patience. Each thread insisted that I pause, pay attention, and move with care rather than speed. In slowing down, I began to notice details I would normally rush past — the rhythm of repetition, the calm that settles when there is no urgency, and the quiet satisfaction of steady progress.
This work is teaching me that intentional pace is not the opposite of productivity; it is a deeper form of presence. When I slow down, I see more, feel more, and create with greater purpose.
Perhaps growth is not always about moving faster, but about learning when to move with gentleness and intention.

HAZEL - WISDOM

Sometimes wisdom is found in the oldest groves. Hazel offers its nuts for the nourishment of the mind and its forked branches to guide the hand of intuition. A symbol of insight and divination, it invites us to seek inner knowledge and make choices with care.

SNOWDROP — HOPE

Braving frost and dark earth, the snowdrop rises as a quiet promise of renewal.

In folklore it carries both blessing and warning: hope is offered, but it asks for reverence. A reminder that new beginnings often arrive softly, asking us to notice.

A small stitched world, built slowly and intentionally for this flower fairy realm.

This embroidery explores texture, colour, and quiet storytelling — a reminder that thoughtful, handcrafted work still has a place in a fast-moving world.

Each stitch is part of a wider creative journey, and this piece marks another step forward.

LICHEN - RESILIENCE

Lichen reminds us that resilience is often quiet and collaborative. Formed through a symbiotic union, it thrives where little else can—clinging to rock and bark, enduring cold, drought, and pollution. A living emblem of life that persists, adapts, and endures, even in the harshest conditions.

REEDS — SURRENDER

Reed reminds us that resilience is not always about standing firm, but about knowing when to yield. Between land and water, strength and softness, Reed thrives at the threshold—adapting, enduring, and remaining intact when the storm passes. A timely reflection on flexibility, boundaries, and quiet perseverance.

GORSE — DEFIANCE

Emerging in the hardest stretch of winter, gorse stands firm where resilience is required most. Its sharp thorns protect, its bright yellow blooms persist, and its presence reminds us that endurance is an active choice. This card speaks to boundaries, protection, and the quiet strength of holding your ground when conditions are least forgiving.

A moment of reflection within the Green Wheel Oracle Drawing Challenge.
