Birchington Silver Band Birchington Silver Band (formerly British Legion Band) has been around since 1934.

Led by our Musical Director, Louis Parker-Gorman, the Band has around 30 playing members.

From marches and features, to overtures and pop music - we’ve got music for everyone! 🎶🪊

It’s been quite a few years since we last played here, and we’re all looking forward to it. Especially our MD, Louis, who is finally making him dreams a reality, leading a band on a bandstand close to his heart 🤩

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of, Life Vice-President and longtime band supporter, Monica Mannering, who passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday (22nd June) morning.

Monica was a well known character around Birchington, and especially here in the band. From leading the raffle and rattling collection tins, to tapping her toes at all the bands engagements and even joining us in Les Mureaux, Monica has been a staple of the bands history over the last almost 60 years. The band has always been a family affair, with two of Monica’s daughters, Melanie and Teresa on the Tenor Horn section, and one of her Grandsons, Cameron playing Solo Trombone.

Monica will be massively missed by all🙏🏼

Due to a mechanical fault in the All Saints Church clock, Birchington Silver Band will be providing the 'hourly chimes' from the Square every Saturday in April 🕰️
Our bass section will be taking shifts to strike a low G every hour on the hour. We apologize for any confusion during the 12-bell marathon at noon 🔔
