Love my regulars soooooo much!!!
Dear Concerned Quiz Team,
Thank you for your letter regarding the apparent lack of educational opportunities afforded to those studying Chemical Engineering at The Merlin Sunday Quiz.
Whilst I really do try to make the questions something that most of the quiz crowd have at least some chance of answering, I also listen carefully to all requests, complaints, pleas, bribes and handwritten petitions.
However, you really do need to help me out.
“More inclusive questions” is a very broad brief, so perhaps you could tick a few boxes and point me in the right direction:
A) Celebrity Gossip
Who's married to who, who's divorced who, who's fallen out with who, and who's currently pretending they haven't.
B) Easy TV
Coronation Street, The Traitors, Gavin & Stacey — basically anything where recognising somebody counts as knowledge.
C) Movies Everyone Has Actually Seen
No 1947 Hungarian subtitled classics. Think Barbie, Shrek and Harry Potter.
D) Very Easy General Knowledge
Capitals, colours, animals and questions where somebody on your team immediately shouts “EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT!”
E) Food & Drink
Crisps, chocolate, takeaways and alcohol — finally, a subject you've been revising for years.
F) Music for Normal People
Songs you've actually heard of, by people you've actually heard of, preferably with a chorus you can drunkenly sing.
G) Absolute Sitters
What colour is an orange?
Although experience tells me at least three teams will still put yellow.
H) Pot Luck
Carry on as we are and accept that occasionally the Quizmaster is going to ask something you don't bloody know.
I am, of course, very willing to accept suggested subjects for future questions. Just give me something to work with!
Finally, may I remind you that History may be a choice in school, but attending my quiz is also a choice. Yet here you are. Every Sunday. 😂
