IT’S ALL STARTING TO COME TOGETHER…

A quick update from our Leigh-on-Sea project, where the new wooden pergola is starting to take shape.

You can really begin to see how this space is going to work now - and it’s coming together beautifully.

Still plenty more to do, but we’re loving how this one is developing.

🌿 **THE ASMR EDITION… 🎧**

Time for another update from our BBC Gardeners’ World Autumn Fair project - and this time, we’re starting from the ground up.

Here’s Stuart and Paul lending a hand to the guys at Holland Landscape getting stuck into the construction of the timber frame base that will form the foundation for the show garden.

We’ve sped things up a little, but definitely keep the sound ON. There’s something strangely satisfying about the cutting, drilling, screwing and general sounds of timber construction. 😂

The base is taking shape, and there’s plenty more to come before Audley End, 11th–13th September.

🌿 SOMETHING EXCITING ON THE HORIZON…

Stuart’s here to explain a project we’re particularly excited about: we’ve once again been asked by the APL - Association of Professional Landscapers to get involved with the BBC Gardeners’ World Autumn Fair at Audley End House & Gardens, from 11th-13th September.

This one is going to be a real collaborative effort, bringing together old hands, fresh talent and plenty of ideas as we work towards creating our show garden for the event.

And rather than simply showing you the finished article, we’re going to take you along for the ride.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing the process as the garden develops - from the initial ideas and planning through to the build itself and, finally, showtime.

There’s plenty to do between now and then, so watch this space. We’ll show you how it all comes together right up to the big event. 🌱

🌿 THEN COMES PLANTING DAY…

One of the wonderful parts of garden design is choosing and ordering all those beautiful plants.

Then they arrive. Lots of them.

And that’s when it’s time to get the thinking cap on and start working out exactly what goes where in the beds.

Luckily, Paul from Designscape.uk already has the vision mapped out in his head - how the planting will work together, where everything will sit and, most importantly, how it will all develop as the garden matures.

Then it’s over to the team to get everything planted and bring that vision to life.

Here’s a little snapshot from a recent planting day.

🌵 AT WHAT POINT DOES A HOBBY BECOME A GARDEN CENTRE?

This is Stuart’s mum’s succulent collection and, yes, we think it’s fair to say she may have gone succulent bonkers. 😂

Still, if you’re going to develop a plant obsession, these hardy beauties are a pretty good choice.

They look fantastic, come in all shapes and sizes and, best of all, they’re remarkably good at looking after themselves.

Which is handy… because watering this lot individually could become a full-time job. 🌵😂

Well, remember folks, safety first - and Stuart has three solutions to make your viewing experience that little bit more comfortable.

Choose from some pressure couplers, polishing pads or a bespoke drain cover. Simply pop one over your eyes and, when the big moment arrives, you’ll be absolutely fine.*

*NB: Under absolutely no circumstances should you actually use any of these methods. Proper eclipse glasses are very much recommended. Stuart is a landscaper, not an optician.

MONDAYS = MATERIALS. 🪵🔨

A new week often starts with a bit of running around, getting the materials and supplies lined up for the jobs ahead.

One of our regular stops is Southgate Timber in Essex.

Great quality materials, a huge range to choose from and, most importantly, a team who know their stuff and are always ready to help get us sorted and back on the road.

Because having good suppliers behind you makes a massive difference when you’ve got a busy week ahead.

And yep… Stuart does do most of the running around. 😂
