So far, Create Berwick’s Create Your Future programme has funded paid work placements for 11 young people from the town. They have worked in photography studios, cultural venues and micro businesses, giving real-world experience of working in a creative role.

One of the latest is Poppy, who's working at RavnClay pottery studio. We spoke with Poppy and with Keith, Ravn Clay's owner, to find out about the impact of these placements, both on the young people taking part, and on the businesses involved:

Join us for the first Berwick Open Studios - celebrating the many selling galleries, studios and talented artists and makers in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Across two weekends this Autumn, 25 venues will open their doors, offering a rare chance to catch a glimpse into the working world of over 60 artists and designer-makers.

Over the next 2 months we’ll be introducing each participant on the Berwick Open Studios social pages, so stay tuned and save your favourites so you don’t miss them on the trail!

The map will be available from mid-August, as both print and downloadable versions - look out for our announcement when it arrives.

ONE MORE DAY TO GO! Salmon Queen, 3 Day Celebration!đź‘‘

Join the celebrations as Berwick and Tweedmouth mark the 80th Anniversary of the Tweed Salmon Queen with a packed weekend of tradition, entertainment, food and family fun.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Friday
7.00pm – Crowning of the 80th Tweed Salmon Queen at Queen's Gardens, Tweedmouth.
Delicious food from The Flour Room and Well Hung and Tender.
Family activities, funfair and face painting.
Hiccup mobile bar serving refreshments.

Saturday
Entertainment continues throughout the day.
Food from Bakemycake and Well Hung and Tender.
Fortes Ice Cream Van.
Hiccup mobile bar.

Sunday
2.00pm - Grand Carnival Parade, with everyone invited to take part! The procession travels from the Lifeboat Station to the marquee in Queen's Gardens.
Live entertainment throughout the day.
Food from Well Hung and Tender.
Fortes Ice Cream Van.
Hiccup.

Church service and the weekend celebrations conclude.

Also, get involved with the Salmon Supper; tickets are selling fast! It's open to the public, with food and drink served inside the marquee in Queens Gardens. (ÂŁ30pp) - contact Berwick-upon-Tweed Town Council.

Last chance to visit Our Wic!

Today is the last day that you can visit the Our Wic exhibition and installation by artist Lucy Wright. It's a celebration of our town and its people, with a chance to step into the throne room at The Straw Yard and don your own Our Wic crown. And over the road at Holy Trinity Church you can see portraits of six people who have been crowned as Berwick's present-day kings and queens - plus the amazing crowns made for them by local artists.

It's free to visit - come along!

You only have until Thursday to visit Our Wic, a new exhibition and installation by artist Lucy Wright inspired by the crowning of the Salmon Queen. Here are some of the people who've already visited the Our Wic throne room at The Straw Yard - it's free so come along and wear an Our Wic crown!

You can also see Lucy's portraits of six Berwickers who've been selected as the town's everyday royalty, and the bespoke crowns made for them by local artists and makers - on show at Holy Trinity Church.
