You may have heard this tune earlier last week:

Improvise by Jurassic-5

Active from 1995-2007 officially before their untimely breakup, their music sought acclaim via the cult classic Dreamcast game Jet Set Radio, praised for its innovative graphics and subject matter at the time when fantasy and sci-fi games were saturating the market.

The game follows the pirate radio station Jet Set Radio soundtracking the escapades of youths known as the Rudies, who roam Tokyo-to, skating and spraying graffiti as their means of expression. It's a keen collaboration between hip-hop aesthetics and japanese urban culture, bridging the gap and creating connections through music and street style.

The group reformed in 2013 and played at Coachella and then in 2014 at Glastonbury for the set of a lifetime.

Just a little Sunday chill with my coffee today! οΏ½Got some amazing finds at on account of it being Record Store Day yesterday.

Wherever you are, I hope you had the time to drop by your local record shop even just for a browse. They are doing great work at keeping the vinyl tradition alive!

This tune "After The Affair" comes from the Mar-Keys Memphis Experience 1971. Members of the ensemble have included multi-instrumentalist Booker T. Jones and of course Stax producer Isaac Hayes. Isaac was the third ever Black person to win an Academy Award in 1972, after Sidney Poitier and Hattie McDaniel. He went on to win two Grammys that same year.

For lovers of soul and soundtracking a mood, this album is really the cherry on the cake.

Happy Record Store day to those who celebrate!

Going in a different direction today with an iconic rendition of "Oh Happy Day" by Aretha Franklin and Mavis Staples from The Staples Singers, although a legend in her own right.

This track is from a taster album of a really special 4-side colleciton of her live gospel album from 1987 which features both her sisters in parts.

Hope you enjoy! β˜•οΈ
