hosted post 305 - been a while since we've had a guest poem, here's eddie with a poem expressing the dark and heavy i'm resonating with at the moment.

Be more normal
Dark and long,
When did it stop being fun?
Monday comes to quick,
And work makes me feel
Stressed and sick.
I can't work out
Who will i be today?
All the masks to wear,
But
I've only ever been me.
But never enough is never enough.
And I've been on this journey
Dark and long enough.
Smiles hide
When I don't know what to say.
It's OK,
It falls on deaf ears
And pushed away.
The stress eats away.
Who am I?
Or who will I pretend to be today?
The want to stay in bed.
Play dead.
Nothing changes,
Just the weather.
And wither or not I'll stay.
You lose hope
When the doctors have nothing
To stop the pain.
To slow my mind.
Lonely late nights,
And lost days.
Doesn't matter if the sun shines
I try and mask,
Be more normal.
Get a habit
And let it kill you.

live! tonight!

stoked to welcome you tonight to another poetry session which is 'invited to the mic' in that beautiful upstairs room in the american bar.

Lee Harrison will kick us off at seven, have to say, i heard lee read on saturday there and he just blew my sock off, so make sure you're around for his opening set at seven.

joining lee are four brilliant poets, Malachy Harris holds the room with wit and smarts like you wouldn't believe, can't wait for you to hear them. it'll be my first time hearing peter and Cat Brogan - but i'm so looking forward to being transported into their world.

we'll close the first half with Mark Reid , a fine emerging poet of recent forging, and i'm just so looking forward to what mark will share with us tonight from his growing poetic vocabulary.

the second half starts about half eight, after the break, where floor performers are welcome as ever, so come on down to sailortown tonight and share your poems with us.

see you tonight so.

highly recommend this.
