Someone asked me this week why I speak publicly about my own abuse.

It’s a fair question. It costs something every time.

My answer is this.

For most of my life, I lived in silence. Not because I had nothing to say — because I was afraid of what would happen if I spoke the truth.

I thought no one would believe me.

That I’d be judged. Blamed. Too much, or not enough.

So I buried it. Locked it away. That deep, dark secret I promised myself I’d never talk about.

And in doing so, I kept myself small.

Motherhood changed that. Looking at my children, I knew the silence had to stop with me.

Not all at once. And not every conversation was easy.

But piece by piece, I stopped running from my story.

Speaking up was never about getting the perfect response. It was about reclaiming my voice. Letting go of shame.

If you’re still carrying something you haven’t said out loud — this is for you.

It doesn’t have to be a speech.

It can be a whisper.

**Trigger Warning**
I was watching the news tonight both local and national for the first time in a while because of the stories that were being covered. When I tell you I don’t shock easily, but I was. I was also frightened, frightened that this can happen and the perpetrator be the person closest to us. The one who is supposed to hold all our secrets, share our burdens with, our ride or die for life.
Watching & listening tonight the tears rolled down my cheeks and I found it hard to swallow.
If you watch this or were watching tonight and recognised something familiar. Leave now & get to safety. Take your children and just go. Do not wait for an escalation that will be too late!

Hey there! It’s Alex-Jay here!
Let’s talk about Misogyny…
It’s all over the media at the moment. What is it? How do you identify this type of behaviour.

Have you experienced any of this type of behaviour ever?? Share in the comments your experiences as it helps others to identify it within their own lives. Sometimes if it is all we know we can be blind to it and it takes something to initiate that “lightbulb moment”

It comes in many forms.

Controlling Behavior:
A partner demanding to control what a woman wears, who she sees, or demanding she stay home.

Workplace Disrespect: Ignoring a female boss’s authority or dismissing her ideas while valuing a man's input, as explained by.

Verbal Harassment/Catcalling:
Making demeaning, sexualized, or hostile comments in public or online.

Victim Blaming: Blaming a woman for being sexually assaulted based on her clothing or behavior, as noted by.

Gendered Abuse: Taunting, humiliating, or intimidating a woman, specifically because she is a woman.

Internalized Misogyny: When a woman subconsciously holds prejudices against other women or herself, often treating other women with contempt to align with male-dominated views.

What do you think of this reporting??

I am so fed up hearing this term “skinny jab” I am also drained listening and reading this what I deem as poor journalism.

It is a known FACT that these GLP 1 medications can ONLY be prescribed to someone with Type 2 Diabetes in Northern Ireland.

Those people who are not diabetic are actually purchasing the drug themselves mostly from online pharmacies. It is expensive for the individual and yes whilst some see it as a quick fix it is not!!

It is a tool and requires the work just as any weightloss programme does.

These GLP 1 medications in other countries are now being administered and prescribed for a host of other things. Research and testing is proving that the benefits are incredible for a host of medical issues.
It is important to stress that if you are using a GLP1 to please purchase it via a regulated licensed supplier and not from someone who is unqualified and unlicensed. The data shows that more often that not this is how people who are taking the drug who have serious issues are those who have not obtained it from a licensed pharmacy.

when is this country going to get behind the victims instead of protecting the perpetrators of these disgusting crimes. It’s time to do something! Actions not words.

NO LAUGHING MATTER

NATIONAL STALKING AWARENESS WEEK 20 - 26 April 2026
According to PSNI statistics almost 950 people have been arrested for stalking in Northern Ireland since the offence was introduced in law in 2022.

945 arrests and 491 charges since stalking was criminalised for the first time in April 2022.

As part of the campaign, police are sharing a “romantic comedy” style trailer on social media to highlight the early warning signs of stalking and challenge the idea that certain obsessive behaviours are harmless or romantic.

Police say stalking is a pattern of unwanted, repeated behaviour that can leave victims feeling frightened or distressed.

They say it does not have to involve threats of violence and can happen online or in person, involving someone known to the victim or a complete stranger.

The PSNI is urging the public to look out for the FOUR warning signs of stalking:

Fixated
Obsessed
Unwanted
Repeated

Detective Superintendent Kerry Brennan said many people still misunderstand what stalking can look like.

She said: “I think many people when they hear the word ‘stalking’ will think of someone lurking in the shadows. Stalking can actually take many forms and can be online as well as in person and could be someone known to you or a complete stranger.”

She added: “It is an insidious crime that takes over and destroys lives, it is not the rom com love story that people think it is.”

Police say victims often experience repeated incidents before reporting concerns, and are encouraging anyone affected to keep a record of incidents and contact police before behaviour escalates.

Since October 2023, officers have also made four successful applications for Stalking Protection Orders, which can place restrictions on alleged perpetrators, including blocking contact, creating exclusion zones and banning social media references to victims.

The PSNI says more officers are now being trained to recognise stalking and make greater use of those powers.

M E N O P A U S E & …
MARRIAGE
In the UK, over 60% of divorces are initiated by women in their 40s to 60s, a period coinciding with menopause. Studies show 73% of divorcing women cite menopause and lack of support as factors, with marriages often breaking down due to heightened conflict or reduced tolerance
It is important that partners arm themselves with the information to help themselves and their partners. Often a home suddenly becomes a war zone and it can be all down to a lack of understanding!
